Did I buy a dead plant?
Picked this guy up a week and a bit ago. Bought him with hope I could help him out. The leaves have not perked at all, I think they are all on their way out and the tip of his branch is soft but is there a chance my plant is still hanging on? #Hoya #PlantAddict #save

@LoyalYellowrose Does the pot the plant is in have drainage holes? To save a dying Hoya Carnosa, address issues like overwatering, root rot, pests, and inadequate light or humidity. Stop watering immediately if overwatered, prune away damaged roots and leaves, and ensure proper drainage. Adjust light conditions, increase humidity if needed, and address any pest infestations. Look at the following, 1. Overwatering:
If you've overwatered, stop watering immediately and let the soil dry out completely.
Ensure your pot has good drainage or repot into a well-draining pot.
Consider using a well-draining potting mix.
2. Root Rot:
If you suspect root rot (yellow leaves, foul odor), remove the plant and inspect the roots.
Prune away rotted roots and leaves using sterilized tools.
Repot the plant in fresh, well-draining soil and a clean pot. 3. Pests:
Inspect your Hoya for pests like spider mites, mealybugs, or aphids.
If you find pests, treat them with appropriate insecticides. 4. Light and Humidity:
Hoya Carnosa thrives in bright, indirect light (4-6 hours of direct sunlight is ideal).
Increase humidity by grouping plants, using a humidifier, or creating a humidity tent.
If leaves are curling or getting brown spots, it could indicate low humidity, 5. Pruning:
Prune away yellowed or wilted leaves to help the plant focus on healthier growth.
You can also prune to control size, make it bushier, or remove dead growth. 6. Repotting:
Consider repotting your Hoya every couple of years to refresh the soil and check root health.
Use a mix of organic potting soil, compost, worm castings, and orchid grow mix for a well-draining medium. Hope this helps, Happy Growing!!

@Hoyaobsessed can you offer any advice?
As soon as I brought it home I repotted, still quite a small plant! It has dried completely twice and then drenched all while under grow lights. @Ms.Persnickety I did not notice anything of concern throughout the roots, I will go on to trim the leaves as there has been no improvement in these conditions over 10 days. What is your opinion on the soft end, I feel like trimming is best? #firsthoya
@LoyalYellowrose Yes, you can prune the soft ends of a Hoya plant. Pruning Hoya plants, including trimming the soft ends, helps to maintain their shape, encourage new growth, and promote flowering. It's important to prune in the active growing season (spring or summer) using clean, sharp tools and making angled cuts.
@LoyalYellowrose Thank for recognizing my efforts by marking my answer as βBest β that means a lot to me. And thank you for making my day!
