Finding light for Sundew in your home

Sundew love being close to bright, sunny windows 😎.
Place it less than 1ft from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Sundew does not tolerate low-light 🚫.

How to fertilize Sundew

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Sundew after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Is this fine in a dish with fly traps and pitcher plants? I don’t have drainage holes in the bowl. Not sure if I should add some or not. I kind of like how I can fill it in the center and let the outskirts soak it up and bog it out. #sundews #VenusFlyTrap #PitcherPlant #Sundew

So I just got this little guy from the farmers market. Any tips on how to give her a good start? #CapeSundew

Just wanted to make it known that Ursula is looking rather majestic today. That is all. #sundew

🌿 Surprise Repotting Day! 🌿 I decided to repot my sundew today, expecting to work with a single plant… but guess what? There were eight thriving little Drosera hidden in the soil! 😲✨ Nature never ceases to amaze me—what started as one has multiplied into a whole community of carnivorous beauties. Time to give them the best care possible and watch them grow even stronger! Who's had a plant surprise like this? Let’s share our unexpected garden discoveries! 🌱💚 #Sundew #CarnivorousPlants #PlantLover

First #CarnivorousPlants #Terrarium Viola! The first combo terrarium of my #carnies is complete. Used a mix with additional perlite and distilled water. There’s a #VenusFlyTrap who had rotting roots so hopefully he’s ok, the tiniest #SpoonLeavedSundew and another resident who was also rotting and gross. I’ll keep the material wet and will clean off their leaves too.

🪦 RIP my Cape Sundew 😢 Sad news in my oasis today. Yoshimi was an absolute champ and my lead sentinel against the Fungus Gnat Battle (FGB) 🦟 I had last year. I didn't want this to be true but I can no longer deny it. In her glory days, she had vibrant leaves of yellow-green, like the best kiwi fruit 🥝, covered in the clearest dew of destruction. Before the battle she even had a baby 🌿 but it was too tiny to survive. After the fight was over, Yoshimi bloomed to grieve the loss of the baby. She stoically reflected on her role in the FGB and decided to retire. She lived a good life with distilled water at the ready ⛲️, under a dedicated grow light until her last days, enjoying the friendships of Beth the steadfast Blue Oil Fern, Erykah the grass-leafed Hoya, and the two Jane's (the remaining philo Birkin sextuplets). She leaves behind her distant but beloved cousins, the Red Dragon Venus Fly Trap and Delia the Nepenthes pitcher plant. 💮🌾 The cause of her demise is unknown but she had a difficult winter despite the tight-knit and diverse community of plants in my oasis. Rest well, Yoshimi - enjoy an endless buffet of delicious gnats and the finest distilled water in plant heaven. In tribute, here is a photo gallery of her best days only, when she first joined my oasis, as a warrior, as a mother with her baby, and as a friend to all. 🌈 #inremembrance #cpclubthursday #capesundew #carnivorousplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantcareisselfcare #ballondusoleil P.S. every once in a while, my writing degree comes in handy... in combination with my sense of humour it's something else 🤪

savage fairy garden Hi all, I am pretty new to gardening, in general, and *very* new to carnivorous plants. I’ve managed to keep a Venus fly trap alive for a few months (after the plant store put her in regular ol’ fertilized soil, so she’s been a bit traumatized). I’d like to create a sort of savage fairy garden with my carnivorous bog bowl, but I’m nervous to add anything because of how sensitive they are to everything. I’m open to any ideas to jazz this bog bowl up. I’m hoping the VFT gets redder since it’s getting good sun now and would love to add a bladderwort to this bowl, but otherwise, I have no ideas for bringing in color. Maybe some moss? #savagegarden #CarnivorousPlants #CarnivorousClub #carnivorousplantnerds

No longer thriving #SpoonLeavedSundew I came back from vacation and my plant had a lot of die back. I’ve only had it since March so I wasn’t sure if this was normal or if this may have been accidental poor care from my housesittter. Is there any suggestions to support it returning to life if it’s a result of poor care?

I’m historically a terrible gardener. I hear drosera can attract mosquitoes; I have an issue with there always being a few mosquitoes in my bedroom at night in summer, would having my drivers in the room at night help in any way to divert them from me? #SpoonLeavedSundew

I just got the plant a little over a week ago and it already seems like some leaves are dying. I have a grow light and only water with distilled water. Idk what to do. #CapeSundew
