Cape Sundew green with brown tips?#capesundew
hey I'm new to plants and willing to learn what I need. I got 2 cape Sundews last week. they both came green with some turning brown on the tips but got worse over time. 1 even came squished but hoped it would bounce back.it didn't help I put them in an open terrarium since I think it made it worse. I now have them in pots again. I googled open terrarium could be fine with airflow, but mine even started to grow fungus on the squished one. I repot them in individual pots with sphagnum moss and perlite. can they bounce back? is there more I can do? I'm trying to water them correctly too with 2 hours in a water tray. then taking the plants away till 3 days later or till it gets dry.

Were they shipped to you and did you repot them? They might need some time to readjust. Are all the leaves turning brown or just the ones that came like it? Itβs normal for some of them to die after shipping or repotting. Are you talking about the plant itself becoming squishy? That might be root rot. I would check the roots. Mine are indoors so Iβve had issues with mold due to overwatering. Iβve had to water a lot less than whatβs suggested online. Iβm still struggling with watering my Venus fly traps correctly.
They were shipped to me. I brought them on Amazon. They originally came with a pots and a paper instruction on caring for it but I wasn't sure what to trust based on online info I read before buying them. there condition was green with some brown tips. one of them was squished down. like it was pressed down. so I repot them in a glass terrarium. but they got worse probably from over watering. so I repot them again in individual pots, about 4in in diameter the same as the original shipping pot, though mines were maybe an inch bigger. I grow them indoors using a grow light. I'm brand new so I know I'm making lots of mistakes.
@NewFilbert22 itβs ok, sundews are pretty resilient. Iβve killed several Venus fly traps but my sundew still managed to stay alive. I would give it some time to recover from shipping and repotting. The main thing is to have the correct pot, soil, water and light. From what Iβve seen online people recommend keeping them in an inch of water all the time but I learned quickly that it didnβt work for me. Poor Bloody Mary was one of my guinea pigs but sheβs thriving. RIP Carl who was my first πI wouldnβt trust what instructions come with the plant from Amazon or a big box retailer. I mainly got my info from google and YouTube videos
