It’s Monday, almost time for dog walk🐕🐾 & dinner 🍽️ here! Just wanted to share a new flower spike on my anthurium bakeri. It will turn bright red and then form fat seeds all along the top of the spike🌱. Last pic is the post-sulfur treatment of the batch of FB Marketplace Hoyas I got from a local gal. The day I brought them home 🏡 I showered 🚿 them & sprayed with insecticidal soap. Never did I consider flat mites. I’ve got many Hoyas and never battled flat mites. Guess if you collect them long enough it’s bound to happen. I’m definitely looking into beneficials with help from our resident beneficial bug expert Nadia @DreamMachine 🏆🙌 for post sulfur maintenance 👩‍🔧. How was your Monday? It’s probably a short work week for many with 4th of July this weekend 🇺🇸🎆🧨🎇🇺🇸. They’re back😭😭😭. After having eradicated them for about a year I took my plants back to my screened porch and planting my propagations to give way, I now have an impressive infestation of gnats. It’s always the propagations, and now I have 50 more plants than I want that I can’t give away until I get rid of these. I know the drill. Despite the infestation, I still think it’s well worth it to bring my plants out for the summer. I’m just here to vent. #TheWateringHole

The picture with the grass island I swear, I see a yellow and orange flower. Check the purple flowers out they are blooming on the ferns .

Good morning wonderful plant friends. This is my beautiful Crêpe Myrtle. I planted it many years ago. A few years back it was damaged by several hurricanes and it looked like it was dying. Last year it appeared to be almost completely dead. As a result, I took a chainsaw and, sadly, cut it down. Now it’s coming back with a vengeance. I’m very happy. I guess all it needed was a good pruning. Hello everyone, Here is a “family” portrait of my Avacado plants/trees. I do not propagate my avocado pits in water. First, I soaked the pit in water for about an hour and peel off the outer layer skin. I put them in the soil in a pot, cover them in dirt about 3/4 of the way pointed side up. Then I place a clear plastic cup over the pit and keep the soil moist. Not all the pits will sprout, but about 50%. From the week old baby in the front to eight months old tress in the back. Hey #TheWateringHole friends! I went to my first Plant Swap today! 🪴 My goal was to come home with less than I took and I was successful 🙌🥳🎉 The first pic is the bin I took to give away, and the second pic is what I came home with. Look at these cuties! 📸 The succulent I got for free and the three little Hoyas I bought. The two tiny ones are Serpens Silver (or maybe splash?) 🌱 The other reminds me of a Wayetii, but is actually a. Espaldoniana. I can’t find much about them, but the seller said she got it as a free cutting when she bought plants from Ric Moreir (that’s a new name to me, but I got the impression that he’s a big Hoya name). Has anyone ever heard of the plant OR the person? 🤔 Either way, I love it!!! 💚 It’s BLISSFULLY cool here today (62F) and my hubby is cooking his famous Zuppa Toscana for dinner tonight. So it’s an awesome day 🤗 What are you all up to??? #debbiedo

Hello everyone. It’s another hot one, of course, in West Central Florida. 95° with the heat index of 106. No rain yet. I’m still working outside for a while. I bought a new Desert Rose and a beautiful pot, for it to go in, yesterday. Now I have three desert rose plants. It’s starting to rain, almost ,every day now in Florida. Grass is, quickly, growing very high. I have a large strand of invasive cogan grass in my property. It grows by rhizomes and once it gets started, that’s it. It has been growing wild in the forest behind my house for years now it’s on my property. I gave up trying to fight it. Good morning, plant people of earth! And #TheWateringHole 🍓 Today I went strawberry picking and brought a basket of bright red berries home with me. It was so fun and delicious. The berry plants looked so healthy! Pictures below ⬇️ 🌵 It’s also eating day for my beautiful succulents. I have 5 kinds. I had to tell the app that it’s not time to water my African violets yet, as they are still recovering from root rot.

Hello #thewateringhole friends! I was looking for a little humidity dome for my baby Alocasia Jacklyn today, and realized I could turn an old vase over and stick her under there until she grows a bit more. And as you can see, the bottom half of her semi hydro setup is currently a yogurt container- didn’t want to buy a whole setup when she will soon outgrow it. It made me think of other things I’ve repurposed for plants, such as the beautiful ceramic berry strainer for a little orchid I have, and a couple of thrifted bowls and plates I use as saucers, or to hold plants steady on a wire frame shelf. What things have you repurposed, on purpose or because needs- must?
