Hey #TheWateringHole friends! I went to my first Plant Swap today! 🪴

My goal was to come home with less than I took and I was successful 🙌🥳🎉

The first pic is the bin I took to give away, and the second pic is what I came home with. Look at these cuties! 📸

The succulent I got for free and the three little Hoyas I bought. The two tiny ones are Serpens Silver (or maybe splash?) 🌱

The other reminds me of a Wayetii, but is actually a. Espaldoniana. I can’t find much about them, but the seller said she got it as a free cutting when she bought plants from Ric Moreir (that’s a new name to me, but I got the impression that he’s a big Hoya name). Has anyone ever heard of the plant OR the person? 🤔

Either way, I love it!!! 💚

It’s BLISSFULLY cool here today (62F) and my hubby is cooking his famous Zuppa Toscana for dinner tonight. So it’s an awesome day 🤗

What are you all up to???

Love your new babies! 🍃🌱🌵
Oh yes I’ve heard of Ric Moreir! In fact, if you get a hoya that starts with RHM that’s him! (Rick “Hoya” Moreir) 😅 He’s famous for hybridizing and cultivating unique hoya species.

I say this like I know what I’m talking about 😜 but I only just recently got a hoya that started with ‘RHM’ and hence my rabbit hole started 😂 Super cool Hoyas!! I want to see the Espaldoniana as it grows out!
@DreamMachine I just found him on YouTube! His socials are “Ric and Swiffers Hoyas” (Swiffers is his cat ☺️) His yard/garden is the outdoor equivalent of Summer Reyne Oakes apartment. So fun! 😮🙌🪴 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NeBG5G-r7DM&pp=ygUWcmljIGFuZCBzd2lmZmVycyBob3lhcw%3D%3D&ra=m
@debbiedo ooOOooh!! Beautiful 😱 and LOVE his kitty 🥰😸
@debbiedo Since I don’t know squat about Hoyas, except how to kill them.
I found this link with lots of info! https://homesteadbrooklyn.com/all/2019/4/8/the-ultimate-hoya-care-guide. Hope you can get something out of it.
@debbiedo Way to go!! Looks like it was mission accomplished and you came away with some good stuff.
It has been an unpleasant 90 degrees here today. I had to work this afternoon, so I got to go soak up some free air conditioning.
@debbiedo wow good for you sticking to the plan! 😆 it’s not always easy!!
I haven’t heard of Ric Moreir but a lot of times when hoya aficionados start getting in too deep I just nod and make noises like I’m listening but I’m thinking “I’ll never remember all this “ 😆 🤪
@Ms.Persnickety Oh, I can’t wait to watch this! She’s one of my favorites 🥰 Thank you!!
@RefinedSandwort Thank goodness for workplace AC! 😅
@MariansOasis 😂 That’s so true! The conversations can go deep fast 😂
@MamaSirah Thank you Sarah!
A plant swap sounds wonderful, wish they had them around here. Greg is my only source for plant cameraderie with plant people so far.
Now, I have seen several people on an app based on where I live, who really need to be told about the Greg app. So what do I tell them, exactly? Is it Greg.app or Greg.com or what, so they come right here? I have a nice icon but what do newbies do at first to connect this fantastic platform?
@AC73LoveCats I think they just download the Greg app and they’ll be here!
