Hi Sherri! That is an Aglaonema- aka Chinese Evergreen and itβs beautiful! I just got my 3rd one. Those are some great roots in the waterβ¦I might wait a bit longer, maybe a week - let it get more roots, and a bit longer. When you do put them in soil, my mix is 50% cactus/succulent soil and a 50% mix of perlite and pumice. Be sure to put it in a pot that the roots will be snug- they like to be a bit root bound. (also reason to let those roots grow more in the water). I just love that one- the red and green are SO PRETTY!
@Preciousplants1 Hi Sherri, itβs either a pink or Red Siam aurora Chinese Evergreen (Aglaonema). I planted mine in a chunkier ariod type soil but it would also do well in a mix of regular soil, perlite and orchid bark. They prefer bright indirect light and slightly moist but not soggy soil. I have three mine is a pink Siam, I think your plant might be Red Siam
@SillyPlantGirl thank you Catherine, very helpful information. I was wondering if I needed to let it grow some more roots. 1stem hasnβt rooted al all yet. Thank you my friend ππ½
@SillyPlantGirl those are some pretty roots . Very nice
@Shells_Garden Michelle thank you, you have some really beauties. Yes I think youβre right. Your middle one looks like the one I have. Chunky soil is what I kinda had in mind but wasnβt real sure. ππ½
Beautiful plants πͺ΄
Beautiful plants πͺ΄
@SillyPlantGirl wow beautiful, I have the middle one. And another green one that is mid identified. I have no idea what the green one is. Iβm getting different names.
@Preciousplants1 beautiful!!! Your green one looks just like mine- called βOsakaβ, or βMemorialβ Aglaonema. Michelle is right- Red Siam (same as one of mine).
@Preciousplants1 I also have the green one. The plant ID always comes up as Dieffenbachia because of the leaf patterns. Itβs actually an Osaka Spring or Osaka White Snow Chinese Evergreen. I also have one of those I recently repotted in chunky soil.
@SillyPlantGirl all gorgeous too. Iβm obsessed with this variety. I have at least 15 different kinds. You have a lovely collection.
@Preciousplants1 thank you. Iβm am sort of partial to Aglaonema. There are so many different varieties and colors. they are usually easy to grow plants. If I have one complaint, it is that as they grow taller, the stalks grow weak and can just snap off. Iβve had several break. I mean like just snap in half. Iβve been able to propagate some of the broken stalks and root to save the plant but Iβve also had some stems rot in the water before they grew roots so I lost the plant. Still Iβve had great success growing these plants. β€οΈ
@Shells_Garden they are so beautiful: have they been easy to grow?
@SillyPlantGirl @Shells_Garden Iβm not skilled enough yet to recognize all the species of plants πͺ΄ hope to get there soon πππ½ thank you guys I appreciate you sharing with me
@SillyPlantGirl are those Swiss cheese cutting?
@GoodLecanora84 thank you Kiersten. Iβve gotten great suggestions so far. Sheβs gonna be in the water a little while longer to get more roots. I appreciate all the help I can getππ½
@GoodLecanora84 oh Kiersten that is absolutely amazing: I found this one in pieces underneath the plants to be thrown away but I saw color and lots of roots. So I got it for a couple dollars: I tried to revive it but that was a no go! So I took some cuttings and put them in water. They survived thrips, leaffooted bugs and gnats lol. I almost gave up on plants altogether π€£terrible experience: so I know their resilience is great.
I love the green, very bright, looks healthy. Congratulations my friend π that might be my next one lol

@GoodLecanora84 you got a good buy: looks like it has new growth already. Did you order from coasts farms on Gregβs?
@Preciousplants1 always a pleasure Sherri. Ask anytime. Iβm still learning as well but there are certain species of plants Iβm better at growing than others. It takes time and lots of patience. Glad to hear on the same journey with you my friend. πβ€οΈ
No I directly ordered it from there website for Costa Farms and when I received it back in May 2026 I believe it was delivered to me on the 20th of May. When you have time just type in Costa Farms and look at the website. I give you another recommendation that would be worth looking at that is Orange Lake Nursery they are both in Florida.
