Happy easter #thewateringhole 🐣🐤🐥 We have some easter-blooming going on😄 Just got back from Iceland yesterday, and today my Mihanovichii is showing off her first-of-year flowers🌸🌸 Bob the Gymnocalycium is keeping me waiting with his 11 (😱) buds! And Harry (the Pincushion) is doing a new thing this year. Hi guys!!! I know i look like a newbie, but i’m very much not. I had Greg a while back, and i recognize quite a few of you guys! I’m just going to tell my story here, if anyone would like to listen. :) I am a plant enthusiast. I had 50 plants at one point. Plants have been my favorite thing since i was 10. Some of you might recognize me by my old room. I had a tonnnn of plants when i lived with my parents. I moved out, an hour away, to go to college. I had my own room. It was beautiful. But i ended up falling into a bad state of mind, and i dropped out of college and moved in with my grandparents. I sold some of my plants before i moved back here. It was a really tough thing for me, but it was better for them. Within the last few months, i got so depressed that i genuinely couldn’t do anything at all. I have an open police investigation, i totaled my car, i ended up in the mental hospital, and i don’t even know how im still here honestly. But I am. Sadly, all the rest of my plants ended up dying. I just stopped taking care of them. I stopped caring. I never thought that would happen. Yesterday, I decided to finally go plant shopping. I got myself 5 cute plants, and now i feel like i have a piece of myself back. I’m excited to get my room back into looking like a jungle. I’ve missed that a lot. Here’s my old room, my college room, and finally, my brand new plants. Here’s to a new beginning! Ahhhh thank you so much @vvvelo !!! 🤯🤩🥳 My succulents from Volodymyr’s giveaway arrived and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Look at all these BÉBÉS 😱😱 #vladimirgivessucculentsaway #volodymyrgivessucculentsaway #vvvelogivessuccs I might need a little help with identifying, if anyone can assist, as the only one I think I know, is the jade, and then perhaps that’s a walking aloe? 😂 Or is it climbing? 🤔 I am determined to do right by these cuties! I live in a predominately wet, cool climate (except for a couple months of dry summer) so if anyone could tell me if they think this substrate is a good mix for succulents in my climate (that tends to make things stay damp for longer)? -1/2 my own mixed substrate (which is 1/3 coir, 1/3 orchid bark, 1/3 perlite) -1/2 bonsai jacks gritty mix Thank you again @vvvelo ! Hello my loves! 🥰🌿 Happy Friday!! How has your week been? ♥️ I had a magical, or religious experience (pick what you like 😁) in the forest 🌲🌲🌲a couple days ago, and am still feeling the benefits. 🧘‍♀️☮️😌 Powell Butte Nature Park is only 6 minutes away from me and I’m kicking myself that I haven’t spent every single weekend there! (I’d only ever been there as a late-night college reveller OR more recently, barely inside the borders with elementary children for a picnic) 🥴 I can’t believe I didn’t know the trails through the forest existed, and we only did maybe a quarter of them. 😱🌲🪾🌲🌲🪺🍄🌲🌸 As we got under the canopy, everything became suddenly hushed, except for the songbirds and ravens. Lovely old trees covered with moss and ferns. Trilliums on the forest floor and pacific wrens flitting around. Here’s some pictures for your perusal of my new favorite happy place. ☺️ And tell me: what is YOUR happy place? FriYay!! Almost the weekend #TheWateringHole gang 🎉!! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all gather and chat plants 🪴!?! A Happy Plantie Hour! 🌺🍃🪴 Super excited to see 4 🎉 pedunkiedunks on Hoya compacta! This guy was banished to the great outdoors a few years back. Thought for sure the mealies would do him in. Evidently he’s found a simpatico world 🌎 out there because he’s doing fine and producing flowers 🌼🐞🕷️. Next up another outside plant but Mr Rhipsalis has always been outside. Just didn’t know for the first few years what he really wanted, oops 😬. And that was to NOT be in strong sun ☀️!! Great shaded spot 🥹 next to the front door. Much happier rhipsalis now. Next is Max the Maxillaria tenuifolia. I love the way the sun hits his fatty fat pseudo bulbs 💚💛. He’s definitely not 💯 perfect, but I forgive myself for that 🫣, thank you very much @DreamMachine 🤭 and love him, imperfections and all!! Last up teeny tiny succulents babies! Fall where they may under momma plants and watch them grow! 💚. Let’s see what’s happening with you and your plants! Do you have a picture-perfect plant that's in your oasis ... but now that plant is leaving much to be desired? Let's build each other up and show some honest images of our plants. (: So let's do a #GregVSReality post! Take a screenshot of a plant in your oasis and take a current picture of that same plant. Let's see how much has changed. Don't be ashamed!! FriYay!! Almost the weekend #TheWateringHole gang 🎉!! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all gather and chat plants 🪴!?! A Happy Plantie Hour! 🌺🍃🪴 Super excited to see 4 🎉 pedunkiedunks on Hoya compacta! This guy was banished to the great outdoors a few years back. Thought for sure the mealies would do him in. Evidently he’s found a simpatico world 🌎 out there because he’s doing fine and producing flowers 🌼🐞🕷️. Next up another outside plant but Mr Rhipsalis has always been outside. Just didn’t know for the first few years what he really wanted, oops 😬. And that was to NOT be in strong sun ☀️!! Great shaded spot 🥹 next to the front door. Much happier rhipsalis now. Next is Max the Maxillaria tenuifolia. I love the way the sun hits his fatty fat pseudo bulbs 💚💛. He’s definitely not 💯 perfect, but I forgive myself for that 🫣, thank you very much @DreamMachine 🤭 and love him, imperfections and all!! Last up teeny tiny succulents babies! Fall where they may under momma plants and watch them grow! 💚. Let’s see what’s happening with you and your plants!
