How to fertilize Blushing Philodendron
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Blushing Philodendron after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Philo help Can anyone help me with this plant? I believe it’s a philodendron black cardinal and I think he’s healthy and doing well BUT he’s pushing out new growth everywhere. Should I train him up? Use a moss pole or stick? Cut off the shoots? Replant the shoots? I just don’t know how to help this guy keep growing strong! #Philodendron #HappyPlants

Failure to Thrive #Philodendron Looking for some guidance from more experienced plant parents. I’ve managed to keep my girl alive, but her leaves are yellowing and dull. She’s lost the luster in her leaves and just generally isn’t looking so good recently. I use the watering reminders, but check the soil first to avoid overwatering. Does she need plant food or something? Any and all tips welcome!

I bought her from Walmart when they had their plant death section outside behind the Christmas trees. I try to find plants that are a little wrecked. She had a lot of brown leaves and just looked sad. But her stalk and stems looked good, so I took her home. I’m pretty sure there are two varieties in this pot, but can’t find the name for the green stripped lady. Had to transplant her twice in one month. The pot she came in was cheap and her roots were very bound and doing the root tornado thing. Within a month she had sent up 4 new leaves! And she relaxed. New pot is 10 in and on the shallow side. It has only been 2 months and she’s sent up another 5 leaves (new growth like this fascinates me…it’s winter here) She was very easy to repot, water her about every 9 days (I let the top inch of soil go bone dry). And turn her pot every few days to encourage even sun exposure and growth. Letting her roots breath in new planting soil with time released fertilizer balls has done a lot for her. I adore her, so happy she chose life, she definitely brightens mine 🥰
