Dealing with root rot in my Taciveria
Just found root rot while I was bottom watering and admiring how it's grown and looking better since I last bought it as my first succulent and added it here on greg. I noticed something dark in between the petals and I was sad this meant I had to cut it off before it got any worse. I cleaned off my cutter with alcohol, chopped it and took the petals to #propagate them into my #propbox.
One of the petals were yellow while the rest were fine. I look in the callus part and it was infested. They somehow managed it's way and im sad that now it's lost its beauty... but I did manage to find that a pup is growing from the main stem which is a relief but I really loved the way it looked. As they say, Nothing is perfect. I managed to save the flower; ill wait till it callus over.
my very first succulent. in my plant journey has been really great especially being on here. This app is super helpful, informative, and great people with good vibes. I'm also thankful for learning from everyone's post/problems. Now I have a decent collection and still want more hehe. Thanks for reading. I'm just a shy guy. I don't normally post like this.

finding parts of our plants that are struggling/dying is definitely a bummer ๐. that new pup is a great reminder that change can still lead to something awesome though. saw that you are growing a pineapple too so welcome to the #pineapplepack ๐
@jr I appreciate that, thank you. ๐
I just found out from my local nursery, we were having a little chat and showed me his pineapple. So today, I was doing a little grocery, had to test it out and when I saw stems, I was like wow. Added to greg and bomb. Glad to be part of the #pineapplepack ๐

Wow, that really is root rot ๐ฏ and it seems you caught it just in time. โบ๏ธ itโs super stressful and sad when I plant gets sick, especially when you have it looking in a way that you love. ๐ I wish I knew what I know now to save some of my old plants that didnโt make it, but going through those experiences helps you better be able to care for your future plants. Iโm glad you were able to swoop in and save it, it will surely regain its fullness ๐ itโs also sweet that you still have your first succulent alive ๐คฃ thatโs impressive on its own.
Your oasis is beautiful by the way!

Louie, your oasis looks great. I noticed your pineapple, I've got 4 growing, such fun rooting them, I've tried different methods and they seem happy. One I took all the dead leaves off the stalk and it's lovely, another one I just took a few leaves off the stalk and it's growing well but those leaves at the bottom are just sad lol.
@CalciferTheWise Welcome to Greg, Louie! Wow yea that is root rot. It great that you count it this early. Happy growing! ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐๐
@PlantingPeace oh I feel you. We all have to go through something to get a better experience. Your so thoughtful, thank you. I appreciate your kind words.
@Sassylimey wow! That looks great! I hope mine will show some better signs of life, I woke up this morning after potting it up yesterday and wanted to see if there's new signs already happening. ๐ ๐ I'm officially an addict just looking at my plants for mins to hrs when I have the extra time. ๐คญ
@KikiGoldblatt thank you!! Though it looks like it's still happening with the other mother root, I covered the wound yesterday with cinnamon but this morning I saw a small patch of black on 1 of the stem. Ill be keeping a close eye for a few days. Afterwards, ill probably have to take it out of its wet pot; I hope I don't have to do another chop...

@CalciferTheWise pineapples are fun to grow, pretty easy too, I just follow the Greg recommendation for watering and they're growing ๐๐คฃ
