About Cypress Peperomia

Their fruits and seeds have traveled one of the longest distances ever recorded, over 3000 miles to an island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, while stuck to a bird's feet! 🦅 They can be easily propagated by leaves which make them super easy to share with friends!

How to fertilize Cypress Peperomia

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Cypress Peperomia after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Peperomia problems Hoping for some help with two things with my #peperomia . First, I’m dealing with a infestation problem (for all my plants!) due to overwatering. I repotted most of them, and I’m now bottom-watering and have cinnamon on top to try to get rid of them. But now there’s some fuzzy mold growing on the top of the soil. Second, this guy is making a rebound from almost dying when I overwatered it, but it’s quite lopsided! Both main branches are leaned over. I tried turning it to face the sun and it’s not moving them. I now have the smaller one propped up - I think this one is lopsided because it’s top heavy. (1) Should I repot, and (2) should I prune back the top heavy leaves?

Is this too much morning sun for this guy? Before this app, I couldn’t identify what this guy was. I got this as a cutting around Easter. I rooted it in water until the roots were about 2 inches and then planted in the pot it’s in now (3” pot). I was told it was a succulent and they love sun, but that’s not what I have been reading? He hasn’t grown much. Maybe a few new leaves? In 6 months, he hasn’t grown longer or fuller. I want to make sure I’m doing right by him, specifically from people in the know. Thanks so much for you help and time! #Peperomia #HappyPlants #newbie #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Some young leaves falling off I got a new peperomia this week from The Home Depo (I know, not the best). I picked this plant because it had lots of small leaves and some pretty flowers. Also, the soil it's in is not bad for this plant. When I first brought it home, I put it in the bathroom next to the other peperomia. The next day, I pruned the big/old leaves that looked pale or had cracks in them. I haven't watered it since. Now I am noticing that it lost about 4 small leaves and they look perfectly healthy leaves. Anyone can figure out why leaves are falling off? Is it normal in this season? At what point is leaf loss a peoblem for a plant? #Peperomia #peperomia_rosso #variegated #small_plant

my plant’s leaf is turning dark brown / black? hi! i just recently got this plant (2 in big in a 3in pot currently) and i noticed it’s smaller leaf is turning a very dark color. the end of its stem is also a muddy brown color. i keep my plant near a grow light (with plenty of shade i thought) and im just concerned what this could be. ive never cared for this plant before so i just want to remedy whatever is happening w this asap. i did also notice a gnat messing w it earlier today so i currently have it quarantined from my other plants. #Peperomia

My baby rubber plant just lost half of its leaves all of a sudden. It has brown spots on a bunch of it's remaining leaves too. Don't know what happened. This plant was doing great and all of a sudden it's not. #Peperomia

Taking out branch with white leaves Hello. In the past, I made a post about Gobi being sick. Now I think it stopped complaining and showing some signs of healthy growth. I repotted Gobi to give it a "species-apropriate" soil mix. Gobi has a very scaffolded but healthy root system so I had to move it to a bigger pot. I could only find a pickle jar to serve the purpose. After I repotted Gobi, I realized that Gobi is made of 3 branches and one of them has only 2 white droopy leaves. It is shorter, paler, and not producing baby leaves like the other ones. I know that white leaves are not very useful for a plant and they don't last very long. I want to remove this whole branch because I think the other branches will gain more energy. But I don't know how to do that without harming the plant. Any tips? Also: I just got grow lights and about to open the box so hopefully that will make all my plants even happier! #Peperomia #Peperomia_Obtusifolia_Variegata

Taking out pale branch from peperomia plant Hello. In the past, I made a post about Gobi being sick. Now I think it stopped complaining and showing some signs of healthy growth. The top just totally disconnected from the roots. She looks okay on the leaves? Can I propagate new roots in water? #Peperomia
Cypress Peperomia prefers for the soil to dry out between waterings and should be watered regularly. Use our water calculator to personalize watering recommendations to your environment or download Greg for more advanced recommendations for all of your plants.
☀️ Sunlight Needs
Cypress Peperomia may have difficulty thriving and will drop leaves 🍃 without ample sunlight. Place it less than 3 feet from a window to maximize the potential for growth. Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement in your home 🏡.
🐶 🐈 👶 Toxicity
Greg does not have confirmed data on this plant’s toxicity. If you, a family member, or a pet consumes plant material of unknown toxicity, it’s always best to consult a medical professional.
If you or someone else ingested this plant, call Poison Control at US (800) 222-1222. If a pet consumed this plant, contact your veterinarian or the ASPCA at US (888) 426-4435.
💨 Humidity
Cypress Peperomia prefers dry environments. Providing extra humidity or misting your plant allows water to linger on leaves, which can create the perfect environment for harmful types of fungi.
🪴 Soil
Cypress Peperomia does best in well-draining soil. A good soil will contain lots of organic matter such as coco coir as well as perlite or vermiculite to help with drainage. Adding a handful of perlite to regular store-bought potting soil should do the trick!
💩 Fertilizer
Cypress Peperomia should be repotted after it doubles in size or once a year, whichever comes first. Fresh potting soil has all the nutrients your plant needs, so as long as it’s refreshed yearly, you shouldn’t need to use fertilizer. Remember, plants get their energy from sunlight, not fertilizer!
❄️ Dormancy
It’s common for Cypress Peperomia to go dormant in the summertime and you may notice their growth slow down. Waterings should be spaced out more during this time.
🌎 Native Region
Cypress Peperomia is native to Worldwide.
⬆️ ⬇️ Growth Pattern
Cypress Peperomia grows vertically and new growth will emerge from the top of the plant.
🧐 Troubleshooting
When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.
Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.
Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.
Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.
