Alocasia 'Rugosa'
About Alocasia 'Rugosa'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Rugosa' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Why is my plant leaves dripping? My plant leaves seem to be dripping water. Is that normal? I tried to take a picture the best I could have the water droplet at the end of the leaf.

I repotted my #Alocasia Rugosa about a month ago now and oh my goshhh look at this new leaf she’s grown! I also thought I’d attempt growing the corms I found whilst repotting her, they had me worried the first few weeks but now all 5 of them have all finally grown their first little green leaves 🥹💚 I’m such a proud #plantmum 🌱 #AlocasiaAddicts #CormClub #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation

Hello! My Stella is having problems with dry brown tips. She is next to my humidifier and under a grow light. I water using the Greg schedule. Any solutions would be helpful and appreciated.

Cracked and browning- not sure what’s wrong with her! Been taking care like normal and recommended from the app and she started to crack. Does anyone have any tips on how I might prevent or care for this in the future?

found this dragon scale alocasia at the grocery store today and couldn't resist bringing her home 💚 i was expecting this to be a rescue situation, but her roots look healthy and she even has a lil corm baby starting to grow 🥺 she will be in quarantine for a while and will hopefully enjoy her new home in my collection ☺️

Black Spots on Stalks? #Taro I attempted to treat this poor dude for black spot using Neem oil, but it doesn’t seem to have made any difference. I repotted into new all purpose soil, perlite, and orchid bark. Clooney here is a rescue from certain disposal, so I’m willing to try any suggestions!

When do I repot? So i have had this Alocasia Melo propagating for about 2 weeks now and i started to get roots!! About how long do i have to wait to repot it into soil? And what kind of “soil” should i use? Should i transfer it into something semi-hydro like leca or pon? Also there’s about 1 inch of root growth as of right now. Any tips and tricks will be appreciated!! I am determined to keep this plant alive and happy:)

Rhizome with no roots but some nodes I just got this gifted to me from a friend. I have it sitting in water as of right now but I’m worried because I have heard they are pretty tough to take care of. There are nodes but no roots. What is the best way to grow roots and keep this guy healthy?? Please help. Also there is a bit of pinkish- purple hue near the stem is that normal?

Plant is not happy, can someone explain why? I’ve moved her in different spots of the house and she just is not happy. She has enough drainage and enough light (about 8ish hours of grow light). I am super worried about her. Thank you!
