Alocasia 'Jacklyn'
About Alocasia 'Jacklyn'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Jacklyn' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Help! New plant Hello I just repotted and purchased this beautiful baby. It has been on my list forever. I picked it out with this leaf curl, should I be concerned?

How many leaves does your Jacklyn have? Mine it giving me a new baby. What's the best way to get at least 1 more?
-
Still leery of big leafy things, but this one is patient enough to keep me interested. Huge leaves, one little one doing fine, lots of misting. It's more than just fancy foliage to me now :)

Kind of hysterically excited about this new #alocasia Jacklyn! Isn’t it gorgeous? I’m newer to alocasia care, but it’s been fun to learn! #AlocasiaAddicts #alocasiajacklyn #TheThread

Yellowing Alocasia This #alocasia is yellowing. Perhaps it’s from not enough humidity? Maybe too much light (she’s under a grow light)? I actually ended up overwatering and repotted it immediately to prevent root rot. Maybe it’s just stressed but…any ideas/tips?

Plant friends! Look! My Alocasia Jacklyn has a new baby forming! This is a huge accomplishment for me. My Alocasia Polly didn't make it over winter and I thought I was an awful plant mom and swore off buying anymore alocasia. But she's still kicking. I'm so proud. 🌱 Out of all the plants I've had in the last year or so the ones that didnt survive are: Monestera Thai constellation (root rot within weeks of getting it), Calathea (temperamental bitch and one of my first plants. Lesson learned), Maidenhair Angel Vine (was a housewarming gift and unfortunately it needed more humidity over winter and died before investing in a humidifier), and the Alocasia Polly (went dormant over winter and didnt come back). I still have 50+ plants that are all doing well though so I consider that a huge success. 🥰
