This beautiful discoloration appeared on my monstera deliciosa leaf almost 4 weeks ago. When I first saw it I said “WOW THAT IS BEAUTIFUL” until I quickly remembered my deliciosa is not veriagated😭 I got very nervous for her. Here we are almost 4 weeks later- the patch has not changed size or color, the leaves are still beautifully glossy and firm, no brown edges or crispy tips, no wet tissue, and is actively growing and completely attached to the moss pole with aerial roots. My research told me this can happen for a multitude of reasons, and also that the leaf could basically be unbothered even with that spot. Ever seen or heard of that before? I don’t knew what caused it, but I’m gonna take it as luck. So… a couple weeks ago I posted on here about my beautiful new Alocasia Polly. About 2 weeks after receiving it, part of the plant (with the biggest leaf 🙁) started drooping. I’ve never had an Alocasia, but I thought it was a sign of thirst. I’ve heard Alocasias are super dramatic. So I watered her. And it didn’t help. I decided I would try to repot. When I pulled the plant out- the part that was drooping completely separated from the form. Had to throw her away. But I repotted the other half with all of its roots. The plant stayed firm and green and beautiful for about 2 more weeks. I had thought I had saved her. I came home today and she was completely collapsed on the table. This morning, she looked like the firm green happy plant. Idk what happened. I took the support stick out from behind her, and the entire plant came out with it super easily. I’m talking meat falling off the bone😭 I have no idea what I did wrong. But she is definitely extremely squishy and I’m taking the loss. When I got rid of the other half prior however, I planted the 10 corms that I harvested from her- and a couple have already rooted. So it’s ok! Hello everyone hope you and your plants are growing. Here’s an interesting Vine that I saw flowering while mowing in the back of my property this evening. I had to look this up. It’s identified as Japanese honeysuckle. Of course it’s invasive and it was brought into Florida over 200 years ago as ground cover. I thought it looked pretty cool so its took a picture. Hello everyone, now the moment that not everyone has been waiting for. 🤔 I dug up a small, about 8 inches, American beauty berry plant a few minutes ago. This is the first time in 40 years I didn’t run over them with a lawnmower. Wow these things have the roots from hell. The first picture is after I dug it up. I laid on the driveway took a picture of it with the roots the second picture is after I potted it. If I were to sell these plants I would sell them $12 each or two for $8 or three for $5. Take as many as you want free. Hello again, everyone. A while back I saw a special on Monarch butterflies. I found it very interesting. It showed the migration path of these wonderful insects. What I found the most interesting is that one of their migration paths goes north of Florida cuts West to Alabama and keeps going. None of the other migration paths come near Florida. However, I’ve been seeing them from time to time, including some around my property. I am not sure what brings them down here. One of the reasons may be milkweed. According to the Internet, they’re the only plant that monarchs will lay their eggs on. About two months ago I started a row of milkweed. I just received more seeds in the mail and I’m going put them in planters today. SCALE! My 2 newest Crepe Myrtle’s….about a year old…hubby went to water and said “hey what’s the white cr*p on the trunk?” I freaked out. Ugh…I should have kept my mouth shut when I said I’d never had anything bad, just a little spider mite on 1 of my plants. Yep- it’s Crepe Myrtle Bark Scale. Took my scrub brush, soap and neem and started cleaning. Hubby thinks we’re crazy for scrubbing trees. I don’t! I’ve babied these 2 for a year (had 2 others that died). Hello wonderful and blooming plant people. I hope you are well. Here is an update on my Chaste tree. When I received it, it was riddled with black fungus and infested with insects with a considerable amount of damage. I took the plant out of the pot inspected the roots thoroughly put it in fresh soil in a bigger pot. I then sprayed it with knee oil. The next day I sprayed it with copper fungicide, several doses. I then pruned off all the fungus and infested leaves. It seems to be doing very well and has exceeded my expectations of it for recovery. In a few days, I will plant it in the ground. Happy Monday! I took a cutting from my mom’s prayer plant that was dead. Basically the only cutting with some life left. I stuck her in some water…. Happy Sunday! Thought you all might enjoy some alpine wildflowers that my daughter and I delighted in on our hike in Colorado today! These grow at about 12,000 feet, far above tree line. It absolutely amazes me what grows up there! We saw bell flowers, tons of stone crop, aspen fleabane, paintbrush, and so many others! Hi all, so this Ponytail is about 7 years old. He’s been in this 19” pot for almost 3 years. He’s outdoors except for winter. Hes 47” tall. I’m wondering if it’s time to repot. The ends are so long I run them over with the dolly it’s sitting on, and the soil has shrunk about 2 inches. This guy weighs a ton and it took 2 of us to repot it 3 yrs ago.
