Hello everyone, now the moment that not everyone has been waiting for. 🤔 I dug up a small, about 8 inches, American beauty berry plant a few minutes ago. This is the first time in 40 years I didn’t run over them with a lawnmower. Wow these things have the roots from hell. The first picture is after I dug it up. I laid on the driveway took a picture of it with the roots the second picture is after I potted it. If I were to sell these plants I would sell them $12 each or two for $8 or three for $5. Take as many as you want free. Nice Bob! I had a similar experience with California Poppies (Eschscholzia californica). They are a native where I am, and for a year or two when we first moved in, I kept pulling these weeds all over the place! 🙄 I forget why I stopped one spring, maybe I just gave up in the face of their sheer persistence. Anyhoo, suddenly I was greeted with the most cheerful and sweet orange flowers all over the place 😆🤦♀️ They make me SO happy whenever I see them, and they are EVERYWHERE 😂😂. I now look up every single thing before I try to remove. 😮💨

@DreamMachine , they’re beautiful Nadia. Thank you for sharing. Apparently, the berries are edible and people make jam out of them. Not to mention birds love them too. All the sudden they seem to have gotten very popular or maybe I just have been missing it all these years. I’m going to pot every plantI can dig up. What’s really cool is that don’t have to buy any special dirt for them. They’re growing around here so I just use the dirt from my yard.
@DreamMachine , Hi Nadia, I have been seeing them for years. The Master Gardeners Nursery does, indeed, sell them and I was surprised to see the same plant I have been mowing . While at the nursery I looked at them several times. When I was mowing I photographed one and Identified it on the internet through several plant apps. They all identified it as the same plant. I am planning on going back to the nursery this Saturday and finalizing the identification.
