Good, Sunday, morning everyone. I have a question. 🤔 I have discovered, literally, hundreds of American beauty berries growing on my property. My friends are telling me I should pot them and sell them. I potted three so far, for my own oasis, and to see how well they do in pots. Do people buy these plants? What do you think? As I mentioned earlier I spent decades cutting mowing them down. Now I am reading that they have many uses including jam, attract pollinators, birds love the berries and the leaves, 🍃🍂allegedly are a natural mosquito repellent. Good morning, beautiful Plant people. It’s another hot one in Florida today. It’s still morning and it’s 90°. I spent most of the morning at the county master gardeners nursery. I purchased a couple of blanket plants and another passion vine and learning new things. The purple flowered bush is a Miele cup sage. It’s a great pollinator and it had dozens of bees on it. Hello everyone , here are two Bald Cypress trees I found while going through some of my old Facebook posts. I took these photos a long time ago with my old 35 mm film camera. This is along the Withlacoochee River just south of the Silver Lake recreation area on the Florida Trail. These trees, when they get older,grow into many very weird shapes and forms. I think this one is one of the weirder ones that I took. Friday late afternoon here 🌅. Why is it I get a burst of energy around 4pm???🤷‍♀️ 💨 💪 . Just had to pot up these cuttings from a very large 🐼 Panda kalanchoe I hacked up last weekend 🐼. Here is another photograph that I took of Cypress trees along the Withlacoochee River. That may also be an American beauty berry bush that is growing wild at the bottom left of the photo. This is about 6 miles west of The headwaters photo that I posted. Good evening everyone. Is now 9:35 PM in West Central Florida and it’s still 90°. We had a very hot day here no rain. Here’s a photo, update, of my crêpe myrtle tree that I call Phoenix. This is a tree that was severely damaged several years ago by severe weather, including a hurricane and looked like it was dead. Late last year I took a chainsaw and, sadly, cut it down. It is now about 7 feet high and it’s been blooming for over a month. It’s a beautiful sunny Thursday here ☀️. A bit warm but not beastly hot 🥵 😮‍💨. Waiting for the afternoon breeze off the ocean 🌊 🌬️ to cool things off 🏖️. Tried posting earlier but poof 💨 it disappeared so here’s a quick mini version: my Moonshine philodendron hasn’t grown much all spring/summer. Protected southern window, Superthrive Pro, up-potted to 6” pot May 2024. Any advice? Pics of my encyclia orchid still in treatment/isolation for thrips 😖 . The first treatment (insecticidal soap with spinosad) didn’t go so well as I rubbed too hard evidently and stripped parts of some leaves 🍃 of protective coating. But he seems to be recovering ❤️‍🩹 and has some new growth so 😮‍💨 😌 😅!!! Last 2 pics are SOH cuttings, so sweetly sent by @stephongreg so I can have another go at trying to raise SOH 🩷🤍💚. The sphagnum moss pot is doing well 👍 although it’ll be a job getting them off the moss and into pots 😑. The soil prop pot should be good to go as is🫡👍. Hello everyone. I hope you and your plants are growing well. Here are a few of my outside desert plants. These are the plants that are more tolerant to the rain in Florida. Notice these are more succulent type plants. My cactus are in a special greenhouse tent that I have in my front. Good Thursday to everyone. It’s another hot one here in West Central Florida. Hopefully we’ll get some rain this afternoon. I found two more monarch caterpillars on my milkweed plants this morning. That makes three at all. Normally, I would be upset if caterpillars were eating my plants, but this is why I am growing them.
