Happy Monday! I unfortunately can’t seem to shake the rust fungus off of my Monstera Mint. I have been doing treatments with captain jacks for a little over a month now. (Spraying the entire plant once every 9 days)- and there’s still ALOT of new fungal growth. The fungus is only on the small leaves- the 2 largest leaves are untouched, including the newest leaf. My issue is, it’s on the 5 smaller leaves. And there’s only 7 leaves total. So I can’t clip these off. The plant is super healthy and beautiful otherwise. Any suggestions? Nap Time! 😂😂 well I finally repotted my Boston Fern. This old girl needs a good, long- nap! It took me almost 2 hours of struggling, cussing, kicking and -well more cussing…in this 98 degree heat…to get this beast out of the pot. 🫣 it is 38 inches tall and 43 inches wide…and weighed a ton. Pretty sure I pulled out 25 leaves, if not more. Roots were wrapped around top and bottom on of the planter. What- the middle section stank??!?? I got free tradescantia from Under the Sun 🤩🤩 And not just piddly little pieces, either—big LONG trailing pieces that had broken off of potted plants! Say hello to Sekka! He's a petrified cypress, or hinoki cypress. (Full botanical name: Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Sekka') Easily the best part of Sekka are those dense, scale-like leaves! I've never seen a wild one, only as bonsai. Its branches tend to grow long and straight, so frequent trimming is a must. Growth has been great lately, all that bright light green foliage is fresh growth from being repotted earlier this year. However, airflow inside wasn't ideal, and as you can see, the inner leaves died off. I cleaned those out and gave it a light trim. Good airflow is a vital part of keeping any tree healthy, big or small; it even helps keep pesky bugs away (in theory!). I’ve got several more of these in various styles, that also need trimming and cleaning up. How about your trees and plants, how’s the growth? Hello 👋 plant friends and #TheWateringHole crew! It’s Thursday afternoon and I’m taking a watering break 💦 🪴! I know we’re supposed to water early but that’s just not always possible 🤪 Besides I got distracted admiring each of the 🌱🌱🌱🌱 on the schedule 👀. This snake plant 🐍 🪴 is one of my earliest on Greg. I got him November 2021 and joined Greg January 2022 🗓️ 😮. Doesn’t seem that long ago!!! Anyway last year he gave me a scare 😬 tipping to one side, I checked his roots to discover there were hardly any!! I’d been gleefully bottom watering 🥣 💧 thinking the water was wicking up but that wasn’t it. His roots were dry, soil at bottom was wet, and I was faced with a dying plant. Down potted way down, probably a good 2” smaller pot, with fresh soil and stakes for support. Gave him a grow light. Here are his roots today 😊 🎉 🪴 So when did you join Greg? Good morning everyone. I was working outside on my butterfly garden at sunrise before the heat kicked it. For my birthday me and a couple of my friends went plant shopping! So wanted to show yall my b-day plant hall! One of my favourite bonsai is starting to flower and fruit. Look how tiny these are! 🥰 This is a Hong Kong kumquat, golden bean kumquat or the Japanese kinzu. 🍊 The fruits grow about the size of a finger nail and have virtually zero pulp, just seeds and won't fully ripen until late January. #Bonsai #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #OutdoorGrowing

Here is another photograph that I took of Cypress trees along the Withlacoochee River. That may also be an American beauty berry bush that is growing wild at the bottom left of the photo. This is about 6 miles west of The headwaters photo that I posted.
