This is a photo of my hibiscus plant. It was damaged severely by the extended frost we had here in Central Florida. I thought I had lost it. I cut it down to the ground and saw small green leaves at its base. That was about three months ago. I’m not sure how long these plants live. The Internet says about 5-10 years. I planted this plant 40 years ago in 1986. It has a very extensive root system. It has been hit by frost multiple times through the decades and it’s always managed to survive. I lost like half the screws, and they look utterly terrible. Luckily, no one can see them in my backyard behind my old shed (built in 1947) and my greenhouse. I was worried about finding a way to keep my blackberries away from tomatoes and/or my raspberries away from them as well. Being in the nightshade family, they will not grow well together. 😬🤦♀️ With that being said, I’m so excited, we are already getting peppers, we have the cutest tiny orange tomatoes. With a bell pepper 🫑 that looks like the cutest little bum cheeks you wanna pinch! 🤏 or a giant green tooth. 🦷 😂 But the patch next to them, as some needs I needed to plant up.. so we’ll see, purple broccoli, artichokes, and some crock neck lumpy squash (my favorite thing to fry up in summer). We are on #pedunclewatch !!! 😱🥳🤩 Since I got into hoyas last summer, I’ve only had the start and subsequent blasting of a couple peduncles on one hoya, my crassipetiolata, but it was just the beginning of winter, and he got too cold and gave up on them. 🥶😔 Who’s the contender this time? My sweet Hoya ‘Bella,’ whom I got only last month, as a cutting in perlite, from my hoya lady on FB marketplace!!
