Pausing to remember all those who gave their time to keep us safe 🙏Memorial Day weekend. 🎖️🪖🫡. Thank you! 🪖🎖️🫡 It’s a cloudy morning here on the coast in San Diego ☁️ 🌫️ the typical May Grey which will soon become June Gloom 😶‍🌫️🫣. It is actually very nice because I can leave plants in the sunny spots all day without worrying about harsh rays ☀️ ☀️ ☀️, until mid-July 🤪. In all the fog and grey however, there is a shining star 🌟 today… the Copper Queen orchid blooms popped open!🎉👍 Hopefully the pics are not sideways! Have you noticed any fixed glitches? I see the camera/photo library selection is bigger now and easier to select, that’s good news 📰!!🙌. BUT editing is horrible! I can’t get the cursor to work properly, not all the time but a lot, and especially if an emoji is involved 😳😮🙀. Any way…. with the long weekend it’s been a little quiet in Gregland 🤫😶😴. PLANT GIFT ALERT 🔔 ❤️ !!! I shared in an earlier comment that my parents are staying with us as they had to evacuate due to a wildfire (thank you firefighters!) This morning my step mom came with me to one of our plant shops to pick up a Aglaonema Spring Snow they found for me (a gift for a friend). I was gushing over some amazing huge Hoyas (a Krinkle and a Linearis) … not in my budget. Not sure y’all are ready for this planty horror story…👻👹 I worked Memorial Day, so had a little extra holiday pay burning a hole in my pocket. 💸 I decided to use some of it to order a wishlist plant- The ✨✨ hoya heuschkeliana variegata✨✨ 🪴 Well…Anywho…. the flipping mailman put it ON THE GROUND against the GARAGE DOOR behind where we park!!! And my husband backed out and ran over it. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🙈🙈😭😭😭 Poor guy was mortified and texted me at work panicking. I finally unpotted today and it’s a mess. But as my dear friend @dreammachine reminded me, hoyas are rock stars of resilience. I dried my tears, repotted the best I could, and have her in a good spot with good soil, humidifier 💦 and grow light 💡. I hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful Sunday 🙏☺️ I love this time of year and although it's hot as Hades in Central Texas 🔥 Everything in the Oasis is green, lush and in full bloom. Here are a few plants that are showing out today. Not sure if they're going to be in correct order 🤷‍♀️ *Prince of Orange (the new leaves are almost neon!) * Aglaonema Chinese Evergreen - has a baby bloom 😍 looks like a tiny Peace Lily flower. * Monstera Deliciosa - I've got HOLES! 🕳️ Or Perforations if you're fancy 🎉 I just noticed the singular "hole" this morning on a different leaf. Lol * Snake Plant - I gave my son last year. I was so worried that something was going to happen to it🫯 but I had no reason!! I've got a real problem folks... I can't stop adopting plants... like almost weekly. Maybe I need counseling. 🤣 Just today I adopted three. A Dracaena Lemon Lime, golden Mosaic/Brazilian snow plant, Green Prayer Plant. And most that I've adopted in the past month are still in nursery pots! I need an 800 number stat! My adorable little niece was over today helping me plant and clean up part of the greenhouse, and she brought some of her plants she needed to transplant. She was so excited to bring them over, and she reminded me I promised her she could have one of my caramel marble philodendrons, so she picked out which one, and I’m now acclimating to house conditions. So when they get back from a family vacation to Greenland (lucky ducks!), she’ll take it home. She told me today when she grows up she wants to be a landscape architect 🤣🫶🏻☺️🌸🐝 I love this girl. I’m sure it will all change when she’s ten, but oh my goodness, I love her.
