Good morning plant enthusiasts!! 🪴 ☀️ 🌸🌲🍃🌵🌳🍁🪴🪻🌾 It’s It’s Saturday morning at #TheWateringHole I’m looking forward to checking in on the 16 plants Greg says need a little love today💚💦😃. So my daughter is moving and can’t take most of her plants with her. Ofc mom stepped in to *unselfishly* 🤪 allow her favorites to live here rent free 😆 until she can move them. OR….to permanently rehome them with me. Did I mention most are Hoyas?!?! Darn it 🤫🤭 (insert heavy sarcasm)!!! 😉😜 Most of her Hoyas I don’t have because the plan was to give each other cuttings. I guess I’ll be busy propping and transporting via ✈️ 🛩️. Anyhoo… she’s clearing out her plant supplies which included these 2 self watering pots. Who’s had experience with these? I’d love your feedback! And what plants did well or not so well in them? My broken ankle and the heat down here has decimated my succulent collection. My daughter has tried to keep up with the watering that with everything else she’s had to do taking care of me It just was impossible for her to give them all the attention I usually can do. So we brought them all inside and I had to toss the dead ones and try to salvage the limp ones and the ones that had dropped a lot of their lower leaves. So far it looks like some of them are coming back and pumping out, but I just heard on PBS that melatonin enhances the root growth of plants! Since I have a bottle of melatonin, and it doesn’t do me any good I think I’m going to try to make up the solution for these poor little babies that are root damaged I’m sure. If any of you have ever done this, let me know what you think and how you did it. OMG! I asked Chappy to display my tiny ferns on a plant stand and put me in the pic to show scale. Apparently the AI decided to scale me down as well. I posted to Facebook because I thought it was funny! Now all my friends think I’m on Monjaro!! (Which I am 😂 but I haven’t lost any weight yet) Here’s where they really live. I had a horrible night of no sleep, well 33 minutes! Anyway I have about 14 plants that need some attention/water. And since I was awake I got up to check on them. And you won’t believe what happened! I have this Philodendron Tortum which had lost all its leaves and I was ready to give upon it, but didn’t. Imagine my surprise when after a few waterings I saw a little green poking out of the top. Anyway so I looked at said philodendron and there was something blackish, and elongated on one of the tiny leaves. I, wondering what it could possibly be. (and not fully awake yet) nudged it a little, and it jumped up (scared the living daylights out of me) I wasn’t expecting anything to jump out, no matter how small. Turns out it was a baby lizard, who knew. And how did it get here?? Unfortunately because it jumped up, it had a rather awkward landing that didn’t go well. Since it landed on a yellow sticky trap. And there’s no way I can remove it from there without killing it. Sad to say, that it’s days are numbered. On a lighter note, The cacti I was expecting arrived last Friday . I managed to pot them up right away but then was too lazy to post them. So here they are. Nothing out of ordinary. They don’t really get interesting until they start blooming and I’m guessing that it won’t happen until next spring! Well that’s all for today from my oasis, hope I didn’t depress anyone too much with the sad lizard 🦎 story. (i still can’t figure out how he/she found his/her way all the way up on to the philodendron?) I hope you all have a great Thursday, how could you not? The weekend is right around the corner! For whatever reason I can’t seem to get moving. I have been meaning to repot two cacti whose roots are trying to escape through the drainage holes of their pots. And just like @MariansOasis I have been procrastinating. So I was checking up on some other cacti in the oasis (I’m expecting three more cacti soon) ! And I saw this little guy with the cute little flowers. So I asked myself do I really need other plants? I do enjoy the cacti so much especially when they’re such prolific bloomer?! So this will be a test, to see if I can refrain from buying foliage plants, and cacti-as well (of course). Wish me luck! I will post pics of the new arrivals as soonas they get here!

Hey guys! Many of you know about my obsession with Tradescantia. I'm especially fond of the zebrina species, and have been gradually collecting them in hopes to one day have all 23 (yep, there are 23 different zebrina cultivars!). My most recent acquisition is the newest official zebrina cultivar called 'MaeVerde'. The lady who named it and got it registered also happens to run my favorite Etsy shop, and I got lucky and snagged the very first one she put up for sale! Hello everyone, I hope you had a great day. When I got back home today, the first thing I did was check my milkweed. All the aphids were gone. I did spray Neem oil on them earlier before my original post. Thank you so much for all your help. I truly appreciate it.🪴🌻🧑‍🌾, I took a spray hose and sprayed the plants thoroughly. Hello everyone, I hope you’re well. I usual it’s another scorching hot with more humiliating humidity in central Florida. I found these on one of my milkweed plants. At first, I thought there were egg clusters from possibly a monarch butterfly so I didn’t disturb them. However, I’ve been noticing they have not been making any kind of change at all. I identified them. These are Oleander aphids. Tiny little yellow/orange bugs with black legs. I just doused them with a Neem oil. I made a positive identification through three separate apps. Here’s is my favorite app I’ll share here. It will help identify almost any bugs you find in your garden. Here is something that, to me, was a bit distressing. I rarely go into a big box nursery. These days I buy most of my plants at local nurseries and propagate the rest. Today I went into the Walmart nursery looking for bricks for my walkway. I noticed a cart in there that was full of hanging basket plants. There was a sign on them stating that they were going to dispose of them today. I asked the guy in the garden section if “they were going give them away or sell them at a discount. I would buy several of them and save them”. The nursery guy said “Walmart does not give anything to anybody and if they sell them , they will sell them at full price”. The garden section/nursery guy was empathetic when he said it.What a waste. I know I could’ve saved most of those plants easily. Walmart would rather throw a whole cart of ,good, plants away rather than mark them down. In my opinion, that’s very spiteful.
