What is the best way to water a succulent? When I try to water mine, the top of the soil gets wet but then if you move some of the top, it’s completely dry. The water runs through the sides of the pot and it goes out through the hole.

I cut off the top of my dying succulent. I know I have to wait three to five days for it to callous. What do I do after that? Last time I tried this, my succulent ended up dying.

I just purchased a Venus fly trap plant and after taking a photo of it this plant identifier app is telling me it’s a tropical pitcher plant. How do I know if this info is correct?

This is Sonny (1st pic) . He is getting pretty leggy. When I bought he and Cher, they were both stout and flowery. Cher (2nd pic), is still flowery but Sonny has other ideas. Any suggestions to get him flowering or is this normal?

Leaning towers of moon cacti. Any suggestions on why VanGogh & DaVinci are leaning? I have them in cactus soil. Only water when soil is dry. South facing windowsill.

Found this guy at Lowe’s for the cheap but I lost the tag that said what he was and Greg keeps giving me different answers. I’ve given it the succulent/cactus soil but are they any tips for taking care of it?

Orchid experiment..... She's in a self watering pot but it's not set up like a self watering pot. No wick. I'm using the bottom part to catch the water. I'm using distilled water. I put a layer of the chunky bark and then a thin layer of leftover live spaghum moss i had leftover. Then a layer of the chunky bark to hold her in place so she doesn't fall over. I left some of her roots exposed so I could keep an eye 👁 on them. After doing some Google search I see now they use moss and bark. I thought they only used bark. I want to see if the live is better than that other dried up stuff you buy from Lowe's. Greg watering and fertilizing recommendations are confusing. I received a reminder to fertilize and water the same plant on different days. Shouldn’t watering and fertilizing be done on the same day? Please help.

Wanted to share some progress pics of my Sedum Adolphi 'Firestorm', which I purchased in Jan '24. A lot of people don't realize just how slow growing many succulents are. Watching them for signs of new growth is akin to watching paint dry 😂 As you can see from the pics, it's produced a few offsets, but the main rosette is still about the same size after 2.5 years. For the last 2 years, it's been 8-10" under decent-strength, full-spectrum grow lights. I water it once a month on average. Same pot/soil, no fertilizer. When people talk about plants that "thrive on neglect", this is the kind of plant they're talking about 😜 If you're new to plants (or just tend to be impatient lol) and want something that will reward you with visible, tangible growth in a short period of time, succulents might not be the best choice. But for those willing to invest the time, you'll be rewarded with something equally as gratifying 🥰
