About Alocasia 'Dragon Scale'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

I bought two Dragon Scales. They need repotted as they came in decorative pots without drainage. Any advice for these guys? I have tons of plants but this is my first of these guys. #AlocasiaDragonScale #Alocasia #AlocasiaAddicts

Strange Soft Spots I have some strange spots that showed up on my alocasia today. I water about every 10 days and keep her next to a humidifier for a couple hours each day in bright indirect light. What do these spots mean??

Forgot to post these photos of Henry when I repotted it on feb 7th. Look at those roots! Love to see it! It’s now in a 7inch pot! Time flies. I also moved it out of my ilea greenhouse cabinet because it was getting too big. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #BeforeAndAfter #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #DragonScaleAlocasia #dragonscale

I purchased this plant a week or so ago, it looked fairly well, this is what my plant looks like today, what has gone wrong.

The leaves are curled inwards. Is that okay? Anyway I can fix it?

This is in fact a flower, correct? Not an alien? I am absolutely astonished. 1) I had no idea that these things bloomed? 2) I can't manage to keep an anthurium alive to save my life but I can manage a bloom on an alocaisa? 3) I treated this thing for spider mites for weeks and weeks just a couple months ago. Infact I think I stopped looking at it with a magnifying glass just last week! I whole heatedly thought this was a leaf coming in! Does this mean I can relax that the spider mites have successfully been eradicated? Soooooo many QUESTIONS⁉️. I thought I would share because it's actually a REALLY PRETTY FLOWER, HUH? and I am wondering if the color of the bloom varies between the "dragon scale" variants or no? @TheConservator #plantaddict #happyplants #newgrowth #alocasiaaddicts #alocasia #adhdplantlovers

I repotted Henry! Not sure why I didn’t get any photos of him while I was repotting. The plant in the photo below isn’t Henry it’s one of his siblings but the pot that it’s sitting in was the pot that Henry was previously in. It was a 2” pot now he lives in the clear 3.5” pot! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #BeforeAndAfter #PlantLove #TropicalPlants #ThanksForPhotosynthesis #QuickGrowingPlants #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaDragonScale
