About Silver Leaf Philodendron
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Silver Leaf Philodendron
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Silver Leaf Philodendron after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Can I let my silver leaf philodendron trail? Every picture and video I can find of this plant has a moss pole or something to climb. I really want another hanging plant. Does anyone have experience letting this plant trail or know if it will be happy doing so?

Fellow philodendron brandi growers, how do you achieve success? I’ve had my philodendron brandtianum for about 4 years now, and I’ve always struggled with getting it to stay happy and produce larger, healthy looking leaves. Greg lists this plant as easy to grow, but from my experience and from what I’ve read online, it truly isn’t. It definitely does not grow anywhere near as nicely as my other philodendrons. Typically, the leaves are very small and also bent and crooked. It seems to need very high humidity, which can be a challenge in my northern climate, especially in the winter. The most success I’ve had has been with keeping it in a cloche, but then it can’t fit in there once it reaches a larger size. I do really love this plant and wish I could figure out how to make it happy. Any insights would be very much appreciated. ❤️🪴 #Philodendron #advice #help

Um what in the WORLD is going on?! APPARENTLY I WAS VISITED BY A PLANT FAIRY?!?! 😭 *Edit to say that @tmbryant37 is SNEAKY and apparently was the mastermind behind this scheme!! Wow! TABETHA, THANK YOU!!! 🌿💚 You made my whole week.* Um excuse me, but why did my WISHLIST PLANT magically show up on my doorstep today??? 🤯 Imagine my surprise to walk outside and find a #PlantProper box at my door — that just happened to be holding the most gorgeous philodendron brandtianum I’ve ever seen?! 😍 Totally unexpectedly, the kindness of @sarah10orio & @tmbryant37 has struck again. Sarah and Tabetha, I am BLOWN AWAY by your generosity!!! I don’t know how you knew that this plant has been on my wishlist!! I am so so so grateful for this unexpected act of kindness that I am absolutely thrilled to receive. 🥲 I feel so lucky to have met so many incredible friends here on Greg. It hasn’t been easy in my life for me to have people in my corner, and I can honestly say that since joining this community I’ve felt so much support and experienced happiness and connection in a way that I had kind of given up on after some things in my past. TL; DR — Thank you for the #PlantFairy magic. It reminds me of all the good out there. It reminds me that I’m not alone, and that there are some pretty incredible people out there with huge hearts that I’m really grateful for. 🥰 Oh and P.S. — I’m naming her Lilo because it means “one who is generous.” I like that she’ll be a visual reminder to me of the power of random acts of kindness, and I’m hoping to channel your generosity in the future! 💚 #plantfriendsarethebestfriends #plantamigos #plantmagic #randomactofkindness #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #thankfulthursday

I got this plant last week and repotted it right after. It’s near an east facing window, and near a humidifier. The bottom leaves are turning brown. Is it getting too much direct sunlight? Was thinking of moving it under the agave plant on my plant stand #Philodendron

🎶 one of these leaves is not like the others 🎶 #SilverLeafPhilodendron I got this girl in rough shape and while two leaves don’t look terrible, the top leaf is still that weird reddish color in her main photo. She’s in bright indirect light, has drainage, and only gets watered when the soil is dry. Ideas? Is something wrong or is she just weird? Nearly all of my plants are rescues and this is one of the only ones not making any progress. She’s also one of my faves, so I’m determined to keep her going 🆘 #Philodendron #PhiloFlock
