Been working in the greenhouse most of my morning. Thought Iβd share some photos. First ones are some of my monsteras. Please add your own photos of your monsteras, begonias, philodendrons, Hoyas, ferns, and anthuriums! Iβd love to see them, and Iβm sure so many others would too! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #Monstera #MonsteraMob #TheThread #TheWateringHole #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #OrchidLovers #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter #PestControl #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #PLANTMAFIA #RarePlants #PlantID

My husband spoiled me with this anthurium vittarifolium variegated for Motherβs Day and Iβm absolutely in love (with him and the plant lol!). Sheβs just a widdle bebe right now but should grow up to be a stunner if I play my cards right! Itβs my first anthurium and the plant shop lady said itβs her least fussy one.
@Idplantthat very nicely done. Everything is so green and vibrant. Iβve not been too successful growing ferns inside but my asparagus fern is doing fantastic and is one of my favorites. My monstera is a monster! My flower less Hoya is growing but wonβt flower! My adorable Birkin and lastly purple Flamingo flower or Anthurium
@DreamMachine, that black begonia is a Black Mamba! I love that one too! You have to! You gotta post it! That anthurium was my first anthurium ever; itβs one of my all-time favorites. Iβm generally not a big fan of just green; itβs gotta be different for me to really love, but this babyβ¦ Iβm just always happy to see it. Your crΓ¨me brΓ»lΓ©e almost reminds me of a Jose philodendron, itβs gorgeous and I love her curl still unraveling π₯°
@MamaLinne Deb, itβs gorgeous! When it goes up, itβs definitely going to be a monster stunner! I love anthuriums; they are big plants, but theyβve got big personalities π
@Shells_Garden Michelle, first of all, that monstera WOW! π€© Thatβs impressive and stunning π Iβve had not so much luck with ferns either. This is my third Aussie fern and the only one Iβve kept alive yet. My little golden zebra Iβm actually shocked sheβs around.. π Okay, so tell me, because I honestly donβt know, and maybe you know! Your asparagus fern, is it a Meyerβs asparagus or a regular? I guess they have different growth habits? Yours is adorable, itβs so cute how little all its leaves are. @DreamMachine Nadia was saying some Hoyas can take up to ten years to bloom! Iβm newer to the Hoya collection so Iβve got nothing to go off. π But yours looks so happy and lush! I wonder if itβs just the type of Hoya?? Your philodendron and anthurium are gorgeous. - I love that flower color. Painters palettes always have the best colors.
@Idplantthat @Shells_Garden whoops did I say 10 years? I meant they can take a couple years to bloom, but sometimes longer IF you donβt have that specific hoyaβs conditions right. Like some hoyas need a lot of light to bloom, some want less, some want to stay on the dry side, some drop their buds if they dry out too much! Some get their cue to bloom because of longer daylight hours, some bloom when the hours of daylight decreases, some get too cold to bloom, some like it on the cool side to bloomβ¦so many variables to test!
Thatβs part of why I love Vermont Hoyas so much βhe has grown SO many hoyas and lists them all and you can see what conditions your hoya needs to bloom if heβs grown it before βΊοΈ

@Shells_Garden and is that a krinkle carnosa? they are not early bloomers. Vermont Hoyas says they are usually ready to start blooming at around 3 years of age, but they can be hard to bloom the first time.
@DreamMachine I could be totally misremembering the ten years! If I did, I apologize. But holy moly, thatβs still a time. (I guess not in a plant world if they are long-lived π) Thatβs a great resource, I gotta look him up!
@DreamMachine this is wild! Is that an actual flower of one of the Hoyas? And itβs supposed to look like this??
@Idplantthat yeah! Isnβt that a crazy one??
@DreamMachine itβs so alien, I mean thatβs what I feel like youβd see on another planet or reality. I love it! π
@Idplantthat I know right! Thereβs another one where the little parts of the corona (I hope thatβs the right word, the center part of the flower) look like snake tongues!! π€― I forget which one though π
@DreamMachine yes it is a Krinkle. Iβve had it about 18 months and itβs still in the same pot I put it in. Iβve read that Hoya like to be rootbound to flower so Iβve never repotted it yet. Do you think itβs time for a bigger pot? I also have this Krimson Queen that Iβve had for about a year and never repotted.
@Shells_Garden okay, so you are probably looking at another 18 months before the krinkle could possibly bloom. Itβs a long haul plant βΊοΈ I would probably not repot it until it blooms, and only if it needs it!
@Shells_Garden and the krimson queen is also a carnosa, so youβre probably looking at the same time frame for blooms for that one too. If you are looking for an early bloomer, the hoya Bella is a great one! Iβve seen Bellaβs bloom on barely-over-a-cutting size.
@Idplantthat itβs an Asparagus Lace Fern. I also have an Asparagus Ming Fern as shown here. Sheβs tiny but sheβs got new growth! The Ming fronds look more like porcupine needles and the fronds on tue lace fern are soft more like lace.
@DreamMachine thank you Nadia. I didnβt think o should repot it yet so Iβm glad I waited. Appreciate the guidance
@DreamMachine excellent! Thank you! Iβll look for one of those Hoyas on Etsy.
@Shells_Garden oh I love that fern too, itβs completely different than the Meyerβs asparagus fern. I recently got a couple of months ago, but they grow closer together and have a thicker, bushy style. ?? Itβs honestly my first one so Iβm still learning a lot about it. Not sure if you are interested, but I just started using this seller for my Hoyas and she gives genuine advice and great cuttings. Her care and plants are amazing. Highly recommend her, especially if you have a new Hoya you want! https://thehoyatrove.com/?srsltid=AfmBOoqNY0DhXoq782OJt0UoYYj11hPgtRZAzvA-VhVVuySf_3Fn-1qe
@Idplantthat thank you!! Yeah that Ming fern came as a starter in one of the 10 packs I bought last year. Itβs one of the only ferns that survived out of them. I have several larger (huge) Boston ferns on my patio that do great but getting small starter plants to grow up and thrive hasnβt been in the cards for me.
@Shells_Garden, those guys are monsters! They look very happy. I feel like starters and seeds, if not a typical vegetable or something, can be really tricky to get to actually make it into a mature plant. πͺ΄ π
