Iβm so happy! My undulata is actually looking pretty good; this is one of my first ever Hoyas. Iβve heard these ones can be a little more tricky? Does anyone else have more experience with a particular Hoya? Any suggestions as far as making it better?? Otherwise, whatβs your favorite Hoya youβve grown? Like, wishlist?? Anything Hoya, for a Hoya-Tuesdays! π€£π©΅ #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads #TheThread #TheWateringHole #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #BeforeAndAfter #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #PlantID
Okay; total side note- I have an overflow strawberry bucket planter; I have no idea how, but somehow my peas π« made it over here?? Random little place.. so apparently we are growing peas and strawberries π? Iβm blaming my squirrels πΏοΈ on this one.. they love to help with planting.. itβs just we disagree on where and what we plant.. but they donβt care; they do what they want. Ha ha π π€¦ββοΈ now, how do I train a squirrel to plant in designated areas π€£π€·ββοΈ a girl can only hope π€¦ββοΈ the saga continues.. damn ninja gardeners ππ
@Idplantthat H. Undulata is a notoriously difficult hoya π
Doug Chamberlain says that he was finally told to only water when it was dry, and to grow it on a heat mat. Good luck with it! How long have you had it?
My wishlist hoya is H. clemensiorum IML 1752 and H. nabawanensis (Inner Variegated) π€€π€€π€€

Hmm, so Iβve got two of these cuties, the one you see and a red one. Iβve had both of them for about 4-6 months now. They strictly live in the greenhouse. I havenβt had any issues yet. My GGG, however, passed; I thought for sure Iβd lose these first! π€¦ββοΈπ Right now, Iβm just thinking π€ itβs been luck. π π€£ Iβm gonna have to look up the one you mentioned, I love that veining! Those dark veins against the greens always get me. Ha ha ha but I love the dramatic veins. Of just about any kind. π Okay, so fill me in; who is Doug Chamberlain? (Iβm the worst person for names; my mind goes blank and you just see sagebrush rolling by; when it comes to names) ππ€¦ββοΈπ€«
@DreamMachine holy moly! Four years to make a comeback; take about a dramatic little thingβ¦ π€¦ββοΈπ€£ gorgeously dramaticβ¦ I guess that goes with the territory though π€£
@Idplantthat Dang it, Greg freezed on my last comment π Has the app been EXTRA glitchy today?!
Um first of all, who is that straight up bombshell I see?! π€©π± Love your new profile pic!! π±π€©
And girl omg, i love those veins too π€€ I saved a pic of a clemensiorum with purple sun stressing, Iβll attach if I find it!
And Doug Chamberlain is just the owner of that website I linked, Vermont Hoyas. Heβs just known for growing a LOT of hoyas π and he records them all too!

@Idplantthat and speaking of horrible with names, what is the GGG? ππ€£π€ͺ
@DreamMachine ha ha ha thanks hun! Thatβs me; I forgot you all have never met me in real time so you have no clue who I am! Ha ha π€£ That website was great; I decided Iβm saving it and reading more tonight when I know I wonβt be able to sleep. π΄ π€£ That purple is outrageous! It looks almost black; which is one of my favorites in plants because itβs so odd. But with those raised veins and ripples in it; Iβm implying in love! π» The GGG is Gunung Gading Ghost Hoya. https://youtu.be/Yyyy6rs18bM This is just an example I found π
@DreamMachine now Iβm going to go plant stalking on this Hoya sent ha ha π€£ damn it; where is my self-control when I need it. π€¦ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ
@Idplantthat omg. The GGG, I have heard of that and oh dear sweet baby Jesus π±π±π± Yep, I like that! ππ
Oh and I forgot to say, my fav hoya so far to grow is the H. sp. aff. burtoniae. Whatβs yours? My sp aff burtoniae is crazy right now, last I counted I had 19 new baby leaves on it at once ! And itβs so cute and velvety textured leaves π€€

@DreamMachine jeez! Can it please get more lush! π€£ Thatβs gorgeous, itβs even sunstressing! I know Iβm so new to these Hoyas that Iβm literally fascinated by all of them. Hmm, probably my favorite so far has been my Dischidia major Rattle Skull Malayan urn epiphyte (itβs in the Hoya family, I guess). I had a beautiful variegated Hindu rope, it was so tiny and my first ever. I rooted it, it was doing great up to the point when I killed itsβ¦ then it wasnβt doing so good π€¦ββοΈ and I love love the GGG and these weird little undulata; one of my red leaves came off. Itβs a pretty decent size leaf, so I popped it in some soil and Iβm rather curious if it ever rooted, but I forgot to look. I got distracted with the tri-color oregano; one of my clippings- just a leaf I accidentally broke off so I just popped it into a nearby planter just to let it rootβ¦ forgot I did it; went out today and the little dude ainβt so little and taking over a banana pot. π€¦ββοΈπ€£ oops π π¬ I just love that dang Cuban and it smells so good. You know I sent you one. π€π€
@Idplantthat yes!! It smells SO good!! I love dischidias too βΊοΈ I have a Hoya micro dwarf, but no one has ever gotten it to flower so the jury is out on whether or not itβs a hoya or dischidia. Ima try real hard to get it to flower πΊπ
@DreamMachine I do have a new order Friday. I generally order in bulk (individual plants; and generally just one of the plants) πͺ΄ but I have some replacement plants and some new ones. But the one Iβm so excited to see is the β Emerald Plumβ Hoya. Then the Ggg; Trv009 βEmber Laceβ and Hoya Trv005 β Leviathanβ then around 20 new cuttings (cuttings are mystery ones; but I shouldnβt have any repeats of what I have currently. So if they all root weβll have some great new options! Yay! π
@DreamMachine omg thatβs so freaking adorable! π₯° What size of pot is it in? Okay? So itβs not me; it doesnβt flower, right? Or do they? I guess I should Google that; I just thought it was me not doing it right π€ ohh! Do you have a dragon skull yet? If not, Iβll try rooting a clipping for you! Iβm excited to try propagating Hoyas
@MamaLinne thatβs so pretty! Okay, this might be a self-explanatory question; but is the Crimson princess different from the Crimson queen? (Thatβs also a Hoya name, right? π«£) Second, is this the inner variegated?
@AwesomePlants ah, thank you! I appreciate that a lot, especially coming from you. Iβve always admired how beautiful yours are. π₯°
@Idplantthat do you also have the micro dwarf? That one, specifically, no oneβs ever gotten to flower, but other hoyas can and do flower regularly! but sometimes it can take several years before they start. Or you donβt have their light, water, temperatures correct and they donβt want to flower π Iβm still waiting on my first peduncle π€ Well I had one before the winter and then cold temps got a little too cold for that hoya π
And the Krimson Queen and Princess are both a variegated carnosa, but the princess is inner variegated and the queen is outer variegated βΊοΈ
And the Krimson Queen and Princess are both a variegated carnosa, but the princess is inner variegated and the queen is outer variegated βΊοΈ
@Idplantthat I heard once that princesses wear a gown (the white covers the inside of the leaf) and queens wear a crown (the white is along the edges of the leaf) and it helps me remember! π
@MamaLinne, thatβs a brilliant way for it to be said! Thatβs helpful for me, especially since I mix everything up. π€¦ββοΈπ€£
@DreamMachine thanks Nadia! I had a micro strawberry begonia, but my autoimmune diseases flared and I went down for a while, and my husband was carrying for it, and I guess they disagreed on the care. So no more microβ¦ π€¦ββοΈ π¬ Iβll give it another shot; sometime soonβ¦ but for now I just canβtβ¦ Iβve got more testing coming up. So maybe after that. π€£ I had no clue it could take up to seven years for one to flower. Thatβs like growing fruit π€£
@Idplantthat I know thatβs so long! I would forget about it π€ͺ Oh! I forgot to say yesterday my Hoya microdwarf is in a 2 inch pot π€π₯°π₯Ή The leaves are very firm too, I assumed they were soft and floppy but nope!
@MamaLinne oooh I love that saying about the queen and princess!!

Hi, I thought I had spotted her in your last post, was blown away, commented,... and deleted the comment because I thought, "nah, no way that's an undulata" π
congrats on that beauty. I don't have one myself, but one of the resources I told you about under my own post (as did Nadia just now) is also a big fan and has lots of experiences with undulatas from what I remember. You could search for basie plants and undulata on youtube and I'm sure you will find some videos. I'm not sure how rambling or to the point they are, but although he is very chaotic I find the creator a treasure trove of well-researched information and truthful accounts of his plentiful experiences. And the chaos acts in his favor imo because because of it (easily avoidable) mistakes happen to him all the time, which (unlike other influencers) he never glosses over. Instead he fixes them and thus, in turn, he has lots of troubleshooting experience as well.
Good luck with your beauty. I'm green with envy.
No wishlist hoyas rn, and I can never decide which one is best. Maybe who is worst among them. That I could do (I'm terrible that way).
Maybe at some point I want a magnifica, but only if someone gifts me a huge estate including a greenhouse and an upkeep stipend for the next 30 years.

@MusicalRedmint Thatβs definitely something I can appreciate. I make a LOT of mistakes; to me, mistakes are human, and itβs what we do when itβs made wrong to make it right that makes us. π So anyone who gardens βrealβ (simply a personβs choice of words), but I can respect that a lot more than the other people you act like it never happened to you. I definitely need to start studying up on Hoyas. Iβm a little flabbergasted π² by how many varieties are out there! I love Nadia, @DreamMachine. Sheβs a wealth of information on these dudes, and I definitely need the help on how toos! Which Nadiaβyour micro is so cute. Does it get much bigger than a 2-inch pot? Itβs so adorable and has thick, sturdy leaves; itβs wild that itβs so tiny but so sturdy. Whatβs that saying?? Small but mighty?
