It finally came! Well, one part; the last part of my soil mix. Still waiting on the hydroguardโฆ ughโฆ ๐ฉ Why is it taking so long? ๐๐๐ฉต๐ธ In the meantime, I have finally finished repotting 72 plants and more to goโฆ but I gotta take a little break. Later tonight or tomorrow maybe. ๐ค Howโs everyoneโs last day of the week before the weekend?? Any fun summer plans going on?? #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #TheThread #TheWateringHole #Hoya #HoyaHangout #HoyaHeads #PetsAndPlants #PlantCorner #PlantShelfie #RarePlants #PlantID
@Idplantthat I wish I lived closer. I'd come help you with your repotting project! I love your set up!! ๐ป By the way where do you get the bulk hanging baskets from??
Oh my. That looks like an extensive project. I get stressed just looking at it. (Too much moving around soil for my taste). But I love the setup somehow. I looks so orderly ๐
I've been neglecting all planty tasks for the last days (weeks?). At least I gave them all a thorough watering. Thankfully, I will have a slow day tomorrow, apart from one appointment later in the day. Since I won't be able to do so this weekend, I plan to sleep in tomorrow instead (if my dog will let me). Maybe, depending on the weather (and his decision on whether or not he will let me sleep in ๐ ), I will try for a more lengthy walk with Mr Sleepy and then maybe do some chores at home. Maybe meet up with a friend for coffee around noon. That's about it.
Have a great weekend, I hope the rest of your order arrives in time.

@MariansOasis so Iโm not going to lie; I have no idea what I like it about yet. (๐๐
) this is my first time using it. But from what I have read; my understanding is this the readers digest version; "Hydroguard puts friendly bacteria into the soil that form a protective shield around the roots to stop rot, while simultaneously chewing up the nutrients so the plant can grow way faster." The longer answer "Think of Hydroguard as hiring a private security team and a personal chef for my plants' roots." 1. The Bodyguard (Stops Root Rot):"Even in my chunky soil, bad bacteria and nasty root-rot fungi are always waiting to attack. Hydroguard is packed with millions of 'good guy' bacteria. They swarm the roots and completely coat them. They take up all the physical space and eat all the available food. When the 'bad guy' pathogens try to show up, they are physically blocked and starved out. It acts like a living shield." 2. The Personal Chef (Unlocks the Food):"Plants can't absorb raw organic stuff straight out of the dirt; the pieces are too big. The good bacteria in Hydroguard chew up the organics in my soil mix and break them down into tiny, microscopic, bite-sized pieces. It essentially spoon-feeds the plant, turning raw nutrients into something the roots can instantly drink down. Thatโs why the roots get so explosive, thick, and bright white."
@MusicalRedmint that sounds like an amazing day! So who is the cutie ๐ฅฐ who doesnโt do sleep-ins? I know my garage is such a dang mess. But I have found a big black Costco storage bin works wonderfully for mixing my soils and then I fill my containers in the bin, but my dogs constantly are knocking things overโฆ ugh ๐ฉ Itโs a slow process, but by the end of summer; Iโm hoping to have it cleaned up and manageable ๐ค These are all my newest Hoya. They are just barely rooting ๐ฉต๐ธ๐ค
@princesspitstop arenโt those the best! Iโll send you the link I got them on Amazon. I have a few more coming, so I hang my herbs. https://a.co/d/05Gp7P7f
@Idplantthat Nice! Thank you those are perfect and a good price as well. Now where am I going to hang all of them ๐๐
@Idplantthat a body guard ๐ AND a personal chef ๐ฉโ๐ณ for my plants?!?!? Iโm intrigued ๐ฎ. Definitely want to here about your experience with this once you get going ๐๐๐
@Idplantthat OMG Rachel, you are a MACHINE! Are these all part of your oasis? Or are you selling some? Either way, you are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฑ
Iโm with @MariansOasis, looking forward to hearing how you like the Hydroguard! ๐
@princesspitstop ha ha ha howโs your bedroom looking? Any curtain rods I have that have sun become instant hangers for me. ๐คญ but I have plants everywhere. No wonder my animals feel even more at home. ๐
@MariansOasis @debbiedo thanks ladies! Iโll definitely keep you both posted on how they do! Debbie, yes, those are mainly all my HoyasโI had so many of those mystery Hoyas, and the seller is so sweet and gave me a little extra. Sadly I lost three, so Iโve got to do some replacements soon. But I do plan on selling and sharing these plants once they get larger! Your at the lake plans sound heavenly by the way! Are the parents still visiting or have they left already? Marian, Iโm so excited to see what these do for the plants! For everyone asking, this is actually all part of my weekly feeding routine, but it works in combination with my special soil mix too. I'll gladly type up my exact recipe and routine for you guys if you want to try it! ๐คญ๐
@Idplantthat definitely interested in your recipe/routine ๐. I love learning what others do!
@MariansOasis ๐ฟ My Custom Plant Care Guide. 1. The Soil Foundations Every custom mix starts with a consistent, premium base to ensure optimal root health, microbiome diversity, and drainage. The Universal BaseMix balanced parts of these five core ingredients:FoxFarm Happy Frog: Nutrient-rich, micro-biologically active potting soil.FoxFarm Light Warrior: Seed starter that keeps the texture light and airy.Harvest Hero: Enhanced perlite mix that provides critical micronutrients.Fluval Bio Volcanic Substrate: Porous volcanic granules that support beneficial bacteria.Tezula Super Chunky #4 Perlite: Huge perlite chunks for maximum root aeration. Customizing the Mix Style Depending on what the specific plant needs, the base mix is customized into one of two styles: The Moisture-Retaining Mix: For plants needing even moisture. Enhanced with Tezula Orchid & Aroid Mix OG#3 (Orchiata bark, #3 perlite, and sphagnum moss petals). The Ultra-Airy Mix: For heavy-feeding epiphytes or rot-prone roots. Enhanced with Tezula Chunky Airy Orchid/Aroid Mix #5 (Tree fern fiber, coco husk, Orchiata bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite). 2. The Watering & Feeding RoutineWatering is done on a "weekly, weakly" philosophy. Instead of a heavy monthly feeding, plants receive a highly diluted, gentle dose of nutrients only when they are ready for water. Water & Tank PreparationWater Quality: Use pure, low-mineral soft water (such as RO, distilled, or rainwater) to prevent harsh mineral and sodium buildup on delicate roots.Tank Setup: Nutrients are mixed directly into dedicated water tanks and highly diluted to fit the tank capacity for a gentle, low-EC feed. The Nutrient Recipe (Added to water in this order): PowerSi Original: Premium monosilicic acid to build thick stems and strong cell walls. Gold Leaf Standard: The foundational, all-in-one liquid fertilizer for complete plant nutrition. PowerSi Lush: A specialized additive to boost lush, vibrant green foliage growth. Botanicare Hydroguard: Beneficial root inoculant (Bacillus bacteria) to maintain a healthy root microbiome and prevent rot. Application:Check each plant individually. If the soil has dried to the plant's preferred level, thoroughly flush the highly diluted nutrient water through the substrate until it drains freely out the bottom. ๐ฌ Science Summary: Why This Routine WorksMacroporosity: Chunky perlite and organic barks create large air pockets (macropores) to maximize oxygen delivery directly to the roots. Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC): Volcanic substrate and organic soils hold and efficiently swap essential nutrients with the root system. Bio-Inoculation: Active microbes in the soil and Bacillus bacteria in the water outcompete harmful pathogens to prevent root rot. Monosilicic Acid Benefit: Soluble silicon strengthens plant cell walls, increasing resistance to environmental stress, pests, and drought. Osmotic Balance: Frequent low-dosage feeding (low-EC) prevents mineral salt accumulation that can cause root burn and dehydration.
@MariansOasis Okay. So I asked AI to help me write that out; so sorry it sounds so robotic, but itโs just so much easier for me; Iโm terrible at explaining ๐
@Idplantthat may I present: the cutie. And no, he really didn't do sleep-ins. The day was great anyway, if a bit much with me jumping from chore to chore in the end. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Fingers crossed for fast and strong roots.

@Idplantthat My parents are safely back home, so grateful!
@MusicalRedmint Ooooh, what a cutie patootie!!!
Are we related @Idplantthat ?! Lol. Happy repotting!!๐ฅณ
I switched most hoya to PON. Will eventually switch all non-succulent/cacti to PON. I recently bought bulk Akadama and Pumice is various sizes for my succulents/cacti.
I have more soil additions in my kitchen than I do food in my fridge or cabinets! ๐ซฃ๐คฆ๐ฟโโ๏ธ๐คฃ

@debbiedo oh good; good to hear they made it back safely. What a great time though! Family visiting is the best! (Well, I guess, granted you like them. ๐

@AwesomePlants oh my goodness! Look at those beauties; whatโs that second photo? It looks so fuzzy, but I tend to try not to touch them (because that happens ๐คญ, I end up with a lot of thorns in my fingers), but yours looks so cool! ๐ You gotta let me know ๐คจโบ๏ธ
@Idplantthat So true! Luckily we DO really like them!
@Idplantthat oooh! This was the $300 ๐คฏ #Ariocarpus I won from #PalmStreetThornOasis ariocarpus bonanza live on #PalmStreet ! No spines on her. I'm loving the #Inermis cacti with no ouchy spines.
@AwesomePlants what! You mean you actually can touch it without regretting it. ๐ Thatโs amazing; Iโm definitely going to need to look into it. Thatโs amazing you won 300 dollars! Thatโs so incredible and exciting. In the photos are those the ones you got??
@debbiedo ๐๐น so glad Iโm not alone. ๐
