Finding light for yellow variegated monstera in your home

a window
yellow variegated monstera may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of yellow variegated monstera in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize yellow variegated monstera

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your yellow variegated monstera after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Look who’s getting dusted and spritzed today! The Hubster just moved him for me so I can more easily get to all his green bits, and I looked at him and thought, “Damn, he’s sexy…”. To be clear I was referring to Herman Monstera, though after typing this out loud I feel I need to clarify my clarification: The Hubster eclipses all greenery in my eyes, especially when he’s doing housework of any kind for me. 🤪 Oh, and for anyone who wants to, I think you can play “Eye Spy” with one of these photos; Pip is hiding somewhere in one. 😘 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #Monstera #MonsteraMob #DustingDay #PipSqueakTheIntrepid #PlantChores #TheHubster #PetsOfGreg #CatsOfGreg #HisLobster

Is my monstera sick? A bit of background: I've had these outdoors for about 5 months. The ones with the white/yellow discoloration and spots were in a shady area with very little direct light in the afternoon. The one with the burnt center was receiving direct light from 3-6 pm. I've moved them both to an area that doesn't receive direct sunlight to see if it'll help the crispy one. The one I'm most worried about is the one with the spots. Has anyone seen this before? I couldn't find anything similar to it on Google. #monstera

Moving from pon to soil? Hey #Greggang! I need to pick your combined planty brains please! Lol 😂 I got my GORGEOUS Monstera Aurea cutting two weeks ago and it arrived in pon... Which is fine, but not something I'm really familiar with! Lol I'm going to move her to soil but just wondered if anyone has any tips as how to go about it?! I REALLY don't want to kill her, she's literally the MOST expensive plant I've ever bought! 😱🤑🤣 I saw a post on insta by HappyHappyHouseplants about basically sinking her into a soil "soup" then letting the excess water drain away... Which seems simple enough? But if you have actual experience of this transfer I'd really welcome your thoughts! 🥰 Thank you, Oh Great, Collective Plant Brain of Greg! 🤩🤣 Xx #monsteramob #monstera #greggang #plantsmakepeoplehappy #repotting #pon #JenniB

Hi #brunchataudreys boys and girls! It's time for another Friday post. What have I had going on this week you ask? Oh, just the most terrifying mealy bug you've ever seen, courtesy of my #Crassula Petite BiColor 😱 I found out that disturbing tail is called a filament (thanks, I hate it!). Let this be a lesson to us all: routinely check plants for pests, especially those with dense tangles of stems and leaves. Fortunately the infestation wasn't as bad as this heinous creature would lead you to believe. Right after recording the video, he and his band of misfits met their end in a pool of isopropyl alcohol. Thank goodness it was successful, because my next move was burning down my house 🔥😜 Be grateful we can't post video, because seeing this thing move in realtime would haunt your dreams for all of eternity (as if the still shot isn't nightmare-inducing on its own!)🫣😩 In other less-horrifying news, I was gifted four new plants by a sweet old lady named Olga. Unlike many freebie plants I receive, Olga took fantastic care of her babies. I got a #thanksgivingcactus, a #DwarfUmbrellaTree, a #PrayerPlant (first attempt with one, wish me luck with this notoriously finicky gal!🤞), and a gorgeous #Monstera (photos to come). We're in for some lovely weather over the next few days here in San Francisco — a high of 74°F on Monday?!? Yes please! Hope you all are enjoying spring wether as well. For those of you still stuck in winter doldrums, take solace in knowing spring is right around the corner 🥰 NOTE: if I didn't include your username below, PLEASE tell me in the comments! 🙏🏼 I'm trying to keep an updated list, but I can only see about 1/5 of usernames on the group page. @lifeis2short @CutePolypremum @nellz4estfairyz @AC73LoveCats @theloveofplants @realsimplemama @PoisedAlbo @CourtlyKingfern @ehery @Chevysgirl11 @PlantJedi @ILoveMyPlants @TheOddAsity @SweetAzurebluet @SuperblyLilac @Ninabeena @MariansOasis @Amateurbotany @Arid_oasis @BabeVila @elisenavidad @FitBrowalia @JenniB81 @JenniferNoel @Michelle5986 @debbiedo @PrizedShadscale @planthoe40 @AmusingRedhill @Pineapplemom @Popcornjoness @debbiedo @craaa777 @grateful_68 @basementforest @TRose @AmyM @Motheroforchids @BuffCaperspurge @PrincessPitStop @Plants_Galore @Prentyce @PioneerRutabaga @blueberrypie @motheroforchids @elk @TheConservator

Root rot strikes again 😔 My darling Thai con has been pretty slow growing for a while now. I thought it was humidity, so I made her a DIY cloche, then I thought it was light so I moved her closer to the window. Then I noticed a couple roots poking out of the bottom. Of course! She must be root bound! NOPE. Not only did she have an absolutely TINY root system that jist so happened to grow directly down, but for some unknown reason she was in plain soil?! No perlite or anything, so naturally the soil was super wet and compacted. I have no idea what I was thinking when I last potted her 🙄 Anyway, the rot definitely wasn’t that bad (no symptoms on the leaves, and when I cut off the aerial roots the inside wasn’t brown either), so I’m glad I caught it early. Because her root system is so small I did try to keep what I could. She’s currently in a compost and perlite mix (maybe 25% perlite, if a bit more) and quarantining. I hope she recovers!! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #ThaiConstellation #Monstera #MonsteraMob #RootRot
