Dracaena
About Dracaena
Did you know the genus name Dracaena comes from the Greek for ‘female dragon’? Some plants in this genus have thick, red resin which was reminiscent of dragon blood! 🐲 Dracaenas are native to Africa, Asia, and northern Australia, and are known for being super easy to care for. Some species can go months without water, and many can grow well in low sunlight.

Finding light for Dracaena in your home
Dracaena can tolerate being far from a window and light source.
Place it less than 6 feet from a south-facing window to ensure it receives enough light to survive 💪.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Dracaena in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Dracaena
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Dracaena after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

#dracaena I'm still new to here and plant keeping. I've never really sat down to learn the scientific naming system but Im familiar with it's existence. I've noticed Dracaena Draco and Dracaena Cinnabari are not listed as available plant options to choose and was wondering if that's just a mistake or perhaps it has something to do with the naming system? Just curious.

Don’t know what I’m doing wrong 😫 My #Dracaena keeps dying! All the leaves dried out and fell off. It also got aphids at one point, but I killed them with hydrogen peroxide. Should I keep trying or just toss it?

He died today… #Dracaena he had white eggs attached to the leafs and his leafs were falling off and turning brown. I try to get rid off the eggs but no use. I wish I knew what was wrong sooner but I’ve been busy :(

My snake plants have lived outside all spring and summer. Once the temps get colder... should I plan on bringing them inside for the winter, or can they survive the colder, rainy PNW outdoors? #Dracaena

My dracaena keeps getting random yellow leaves and I'm not sure why! I'm not over watering it (waiting til it's bone dry) and it's not in direct light (the room is bright indirect) #Dracaena
