Alocasia Reginae Black
About Alocasia Reginae Black
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

Finding light for Alocasia Reginae Black in your home
Alocasia Reginae Black may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Alocasia Reginae Black in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Alocasia Reginae Black
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia Reginae Black after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I am concern. Some leaves are crispy and curled some of the leaves are soft. One of the bigger leaves is beginning to yellow, rescued this from a grocery store. it's been with me for 2 days. I don't know what crispy leaves that are curling means. #BlackVelvetAlocasia #help #crispy #alocasia #rescue

Leaves are yellowing! Is it too much/too little water or not getting enough sun? Hello! First time alocasia owner here, I've tended to have easier to grow plants before (except calatheas which definitely don't like me or my home 🤔), but I've noticed the leaves are starting to yellow. They're not mushy. There's about 3 leaves so far that are yellowing. I've tried not to water too often, but wondering if it's a water issue or the fact the plant is about 3.5m away from a window in my living room. Advice would be appreciated thank you!

Pest or Fungus?!! I got this alocasia from walmart a few weeks ago and noticed the crispy edges to it so i trimmed away the crisp, repotted it, treated it for pests and it’s been growing really well!! The roots look AMAZING.. but the leaves on the other hand don’t.. I cut this leaf off because it was the oldest one and it was getting a bit top heavy. Now that I am looking at it.. the crispy bits have little black dots on them.. does anybody know what this is..? and how I should treat it??

Humidity Problem? I have this alocasia and I know that they can be finicky and they love humidity. It was a rescue plant so I was trying my best not to give it a humidifier because they’re expensive lol. But since it’s new growth I noticed that it was ripped when it was unfurling and now it’s turning yellow around the damaged part? Please help.. is this a humidity issue or something else? #AlocasiaAddicts #PlantAddict
