How to fertilize Giant Barrel Cactus
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Giant Barrel Cactus after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Late Night ~Cacti~ Appreciation Post, I had a chance to enjoy my #coffeewithsucculents this morning, & got to snap a few pictures of my cactus babies with morning dew 🌬️✨ 1. Tephrocactus Geometricus, also known as the ‘Dragon Egg Cactus’ , has been *slowly* growing. Recently these darker, more pointy, & thick spines have emerged… I’m not sure what that means or why the spines have seemed to get thicker than the rest of the spines on the plant. I’m interested to know if that means anything at all, or if it’s just a normal growth pattern. I haven’t changed anything as far as its environment. If anyone has any foresight on this please share! 2-4. Another close up of the Tephrocactus, & my BEAUTIFUL Arizona Rainbow Cactus… it’s very apparent why it was named such.. it’s became one of my favorites, I wanted one for so longgg, I’m so happy to own such a beautiful cultivar. The way the spines mimic a rainbow pattern vertically, as well as eyecactching aerial view in photo 3.. I just can’t get enough of this beauty. They also have stunning flowers which I hope I will eventually get to experience! 🌸 5. Variegated Corn Cob Cactus- it has really thrived since repotting in early spring, It looks to me it could already use another repot soon… problem is i have no bigger sized pots right now… (it’s a bittersweet thing when your plants used to be super small, so all your pots are small, but now you have had them so long they have almost trippled in size, however you are lacking in pots that are appropriately sized for them now… 😂). Anyways it will be okay till I can make it to a nursery for my birthday (November). 😂 I plan on treating myself to some plants and pots for my 25 birthday… 🤷🏻♀️ #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #CactusClique #Cactus #Cacti #cacticollect #ArizonaRainbowCactus #CorncobCactus #TephrocactusGeometricus #SucculentSquad #SucculentLove #Succulents #GrowingSuccs #OutdoorGrowing #OutsidePlants #PlantLove

Any advice/Confirm identity I bought it from Lowe’s yesterday, I got the wrong type of pot and will change it to a terracotta soon. I have no south facing windows in my appartment so I’m considering getting a grow lamp. And it’s currently potted in a 4in glazed clay pot with cactus soil. I’m brand new to plants in general so I’m hoping to keep this one alive so I can confidently start a little collection. It came labeled as #NotocactusElegans. But it was $4 in a clearance section and not 100% confident on the labeling of it. If any one can help confirm the ID of it. I’ve included a picture of what I’m assuming is an old bud/flower still on it. Based on photos I’ve looked up I believe the bud is pretty low on the body of the plant for it to be a Notocactus Elegans. Thank you! #Cactus #CactusClique

Theres a brown spot on my moon cactus, ive been monitoring it to see if anything odd was happening and i saw this also the stem is darker than it used to be. Is this an infection if so how do i treat it. It also might be to much sun. #Cactus #MoonCactus #SucculentSquad #PropagationStation #PlantTherapy #SucculentLove

Hello! I wanted to make sure this cactus is correctly identified. Greg and Google ID says Bunny Ears. I know it is not that. I thought Mexican Pincushion. Please weigh in with your thoughts. #HappyPlants #CactusClique #Cactus #GregGang

This is probably a stupid question but... Does "var." in the plant name mean that it's variegated? I've noticed lighter/almost yellow spots on my "opuntia microdasys var. albispina" and I'm wondering if I should be concerned or if they are supposed to be there? @EAS (These pics are from November so not very recent, and it's dark rn so I can't get better ones...) Also need some direction on when to water... Had to bring it inside due to some critter outside repeatedly pulling it out of its pot... I don't see any wrinkling and was planning to wait about a month but wasn't sure if that was too long or if maybe I should wait even longer? Atm it's getting pretty limited/almost no sun because it's in quarantine and after moving so many plants inside I've run out of room but will move it into the plant room ASAP. The amount of glochids it has makes it pretty much impossible for me to see if there's any pests, etc but there does appear to be some "scabbing" in a few places... Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance y'all! #cactusclique #opuntia #opuntiamicrodasys #eastaustinsucculents #cactus #socalgreg #socalcacti #WickedValkyrie
