I was talking to Jon on the phone for well over an hour yesterday and he enlightened me on one thing I wanted and thought I needed to share with everyone. #ljplantnursery The best time of day to repot your plants is of the evening. I honestly didn’t know that. Me beingg the curious person I am I had to find out why. Some of you may already know this. THIS ONE WE ALL PRETTY MUCH KNOW: Spring is ideal for repotting a houseplant. Plants often go dormant in the winter and begin growing again as daylight hours increase in the spring. Repotting gives them the room they need to grow. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for spring. If a plant is showing signs of stress or poor health, go ahead and repot any time of year. THIS I DIDN’T KNOW: Try to repot in the evening if possible. “At night, in the absence of bright sunlight, the plant’s metabolism slows down, so it has a chance to recover from repotting stress,”. #whentorepotaplant

Saved some plants today! I love the way they look on the guest (“plant room”) bedside table next to the biggest fern for $10!!! My bird of paradise also came in that I got for 50% off. For the last month or more we have had about 9 days of rain and one day of sun in every 10 day forecast. It's been miserable for everyone. 🌦️ I've been slacking on my plant chores because between the high humidity and no sun I am snoozing constantly. Knock on wood I still have new growth (thank you grow lights) and no one seems to be in poor health. Today I told myself instead of glancing at my plants to look for drooping, I'd check all their soil and snooze everyone that needed it. I went from about 149 needing water to 64 after snoozing, and now only 13. 🌿 This also led to family bath time and I actually sat down and used leaf cleaner to ensure pests stay away. I got about 20 of my most pest prone, dust prone plants cleaned up. 🛁 Feeling like a responsible plant parent today 🙂. It was quite necessary since we are potty training my youngest and my husband is back to work tomorrow so my plants will get zero attention for a while.
