Good morning everyone. I hope you and your plants are growing well.This is a Porter Weed that belongs to a friend. It’s beautiful. I have two, at my house , that I have not yet transplanted. This one is the best one I have seen. The Porter Weed is an excellent pollinator. Its attracts the Gulf Fritillary butterfly. I took the photo on the left, yesterday, with my Canon camera. I was repotting some plants, for her, this morning when I saw a Gulf Fritillary land on the Porter Weed. I took that photo with an iPhone. Hello everyone. As many you know, I have been turning my place into a Haven for butterflies and birds and hopefully soon bees when my Chaste trees and my Porter weeds get established. Hey Plantophyles! I’m back. Or I should say, I’m afoot. As my ankle is healing well, I can almost walk and I’m back home. I tried to keep up with the planty-gossip but I was knocked out with pain meds half the time and busy with PT and navigating the nursing facilities I was in the rest. That’s a long story in itself. My daughter did the best she could keeping my babies alive, but we lost about 20 or so from mostly not watering enough. I taught her the “kiss the stick” method of checking the dampness of the soil, but I think she over did on the caution I said to err on the dry side rather than overwatering. Anyhoo it is what it is. I’ve managed to plump up the wrinkled ones and dispose of the dead ones and now I’m looking forward to more shipments of new plants and reordered ones. Today was plant Mail day. And I was able to add three new cacti to my collection! Now I’m going to wait 5 to 7 days then they will be repotted into Terracotta pots. Here they are as follows: 1) Rebutia Fiebrigii, 2) Mammillaria Senilis, 3) Mammillaria Duwei. With any luck they will all bloom next spring/summer, fingers crossed 🤞!! Then more pics will follow of course! I am hoping that this will be my last plant purchase for a while!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay safe!

It’s a holy day today! I’ve learned how to drill holes through glass, terracotta, and ceramic using a diamond drill. Mine got kind of rained out, lots of both rain, and thunderstorms! I have been trying to rearrange some of the cacti. But I‘m finding that the prime real estate on the top shelves of both the 3 tiered shelf and the taller 5 tiered shelf is running out. Since I had to move some of the large cacti into bigger pots. The first pic is the top shelf of the taller shelf, followed by the top shelf of the smaller one. My aim now is to stop getting more cacti and if that isn’t possible, only get slower growing smaller specimen. We‘ll see how that is going to turn out!??

Hello everyone, I hope you are well. The big reason why I don’t post any photos of my indoor plants is because I don’t have any plants indoors. I am in growing zone 9B. So I post photos of my outdoor plant activities including many photos I have taken while hiking and mountain biking. I have a particular fascination with pollinator plants and cypress trees. Good morning everyone I hope you and your plants are blooming well. It’s another hot one in Central Florida. I got up at sunrise and finished most of my gardening. I worked more on my butterfly garden, putting in more seeds, black-eyed Susans and purple cone flowers. In addition I planted the plants that I bought at the master gardeners nursery Saturday. 🌻🪻 This is a photo I took a giant swallowtail butterfly getting nectar from a Lantana plant. If you look closely, you can see his “tongue” in the flower. Good morning plant enthusiasts!! 🪴 ☀️ 🌸🌲🍃🌵🌳🍁🪴🪻🌾 It’s It’s Saturday morning at #TheWateringHole I’m looking forward to checking in on the 16 plants Greg says need a little love today💚💦😃. So my daughter is moving and can’t take most of her plants with her. Ofc mom stepped in to *unselfishly* 🤪 allow her favorites to live here rent free 😆 until she can move them. OR….to permanently rehome them with me. Did I mention most are Hoyas?!?! Darn it 🤫🤭 (insert heavy sarcasm)!!! 😉😜 Most of her Hoyas I don’t have because the plan was to give each other cuttings. I guess I’ll be busy propping and transporting via ✈️ 🛩️. Anyhoo… she’s clearing out her plant supplies which included these 2 self watering pots. Who’s had experience with these? I’d love your feedback! And what plants did well or not so well in them? Good morning everyone. I hope you and your plants are growing well.This is a Porter Weed that belongs to a friend. It’s beautiful. I have two, at my house , that I have not yet transplanted. This one is the best one I have seen. The Porter Weed is an excellent pollinator. Its attracts the Gulf Fritillary butterfly. I took the photo on the left, yesterday, with my Canon camera. I was repotting some plants, for her, this morning when I saw a Gulf Fritillary land on the Porter Weed. I took that photo with an iPhone. Hey Plantophyles! I’m back. Or I should say, I’m afoot. As my ankle is healing well, I can almost walk and I’m back home. I tried to keep up with the planty-gossip but I was knocked out with pain meds half the time and busy with PT and navigating the nursing facilities I was in the rest. That’s a long story in itself. My daughter did the best she could keeping my babies alive, but we lost about 20 or so from mostly not watering enough. I taught her the “kiss the stick” method of checking the dampness of the soil, but I think she over did on the caution I said to err on the dry side rather than overwatering. Anyhoo it is what it is. I’ve managed to plump up the wrinkled ones and dispose of the dead ones and now I’m looking forward to more shipments of new plants and reordered ones. Today was plant Mail day. And I was able to add three new cacti to my collection! Now I’m going to wait 5 to 7 days then they will be repotted into Terracotta pots. Here they are as follows: 1) Rebutia Fiebrigii, 2) Mammillaria Senilis, 3) Mammillaria Duwei. With any luck they will all bloom next spring/summer, fingers crossed 🤞!! Then more pics will follow of course! I am hoping that this will be my last plant purchase for a while!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and stay safe!

It’s a holy day today! I’ve learned how to drill holes through glass, terracotta, and ceramic using a diamond drill. Mine got kind of rained out, lots of both rain, and thunderstorms! I have been trying to rearrange some of the cacti. But I‘m finding that the prime real estate on the top shelves of both the 3 tiered shelf and the taller 5 tiered shelf is running out. Since I had to move some of the large cacti into bigger pots. The first pic is the top shelf of the taller shelf, followed by the top shelf of the smaller one. My aim now is to stop getting more cacti and if that isn’t possible, only get slower growing smaller specimen. We‘ll see how that is going to turn out!??

Good morning everyone I hope you and your plants are blooming well. It’s another hot one in Central Florida. I got up at sunrise and finished most of my gardening. I worked more on my butterfly garden, putting in more seeds, black-eyed Susans and purple cone flowers. In addition I planted the plants that I bought at the master gardeners nursery Saturday. 🌻🪻 This is a photo I took a giant swallowtail butterfly getting nectar from a Lantana plant. If you look closely, you can see his “tongue” in the flower. Good morning plant enthusiasts!! 🪴 ☀️ 🌸🌲🍃🌵🌳🍁🪴🪻🌾 It’s It’s Saturday morning at #TheWateringHole I’m looking forward to checking in on the 16 plants Greg says need a little love today💚💦😃. So my daughter is moving and can’t take most of her plants with her. Ofc mom stepped in to *unselfishly* 🤪 allow her favorites to live here rent free 😆 until she can move them. OR….to permanently rehome them with me. Did I mention most are Hoyas?!?! Darn it 🤫🤭 (insert heavy sarcasm)!!! 😉😜 Most of her Hoyas I don’t have because the plan was to give each other cuttings. I guess I’ll be busy propping and transporting via ✈️ 🛩️. Anyhoo… she’s clearing out her plant supplies which included these 2 self watering pots. Who’s had experience with these? I’d love your feedback! And what plants did well or not so well in them?
