Happy Hump Day Plant Peeps! I just wanted to share some new growth with you! I just love my Alocasia Venum! I have a new LARGE leaf and It’s going to be beautiful once it is fully opened YAY‼️ #NewGrowth #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #TheWateringHole #TheThread OH! Also, my Fatsia is going off right now! Hello hope everyone is having a good evening. I just wanted to say thank you to all the people who supported me through the thrips situation. I appreciate all your encouraging words. 🙏🏽 and thank God no more neem every other day🤣 I appreciate all the people who volunteer help me rebuild my oasis. Thank you! We got our heat-reflective sun tarps up, so I’ve been moving things in and out of the garage all day. So excited to see my greenhouse in a happier place! I’m sure, like so many of us, we are trying to counter all this crazy weather. It’s been so unpredictable; we’ve gone from a couple of days into the 80’s to freezing again! Which isn’t uncommon for Utah weather… but omg my poor plants. 🌱 😂 So we got smart and put a heat-reflecting greenhouse tarp over the roof. I can’t believe how much it lowers the heat! So happy to have done it. Potted up all my late winter cuttings so that they’ll be well-established in time for the craft sale in July! ☀️ After giving a few to my students, there should be about 75 left to sell 🪴 My first try at “mass” propagation (kind of a small “mass” 😂) I’m not sure I’ll do it again, but it has been pretty fun. I was thinking of throwing pots to sell them in, but 75 sounds like way too many to me 😳 So I’m thinking about sewing some bags or something quicker to put them in. How do I care for moss ball plants? I made my first moss ball to hold my huperzia carinata. The root ball was watered and then I put about an inch of moss around it, then watered the ball. I am so excited here. I think my Indian shot is coming back, which is so great! We have a patch of middle dirt between us and the neighbors. I’ve been trying to find things to grow there, and I finally planted two jujube and an almond tree this year, but the Indian shot I planted last year is coming back! That’s pushing the zone here with 4 trees that shouldn’t grow here. Second year: two olive trees 🫒; second year: myer lemon tree (although it’s taken a bad hit; my plant killer saga got to it.. 🤦‍♀️) then today I got to plant my cold hardy orange 🍊 mandarin tree! - that’s a first year, but it’s two gallons so it’s pretty ready for this! Can’t wait. It’s going to take a lot more to get it to survive, but the start is great! 😊 Teddy was helping me figure out how big our hole was. 🤣 I love Ted, and Awsha and her daughter Siggy were out sleeping while I worked around them. I’m SOOOO EXCITED and HAPPY! 👀 Looks like my 1 year old Hoya Mathilde is likely going to 🌸 BLOOM 🌸 like crazy for the 1st time (and hopefully keep all her NEW 20+ penduncles for next time 😮) She stopped growing leaves and is only growing flowers, even on all her long empty leaf stems. 😍. She’s a 1st time bloomer! OMG so exciting to watch it go through all these stages 🎉💚👏🏻 1st time I’ve ever been through a Hoya blooming process. None of my other Hoyas have bloomed before. My Variegated Lipstick 💄🪴and Goldfish 🐡🪴 Plants are also currently blooming 😍! #NewGrowth #PetsAndPlants #BeforeAndAfter #hoyas #HoyaHangout #hoyamathilde #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #GrowLights #hoyablooms #hoyaflowers
