I am so excited here. I think my Indian shot is coming back, which is so great! We have a patch of middle dirt between us and the neighbors. I’ve been trying to find things to grow there, and I finally planted two jujube and an almond tree this year, but the Indian shot I planted last year is coming back! That’s pushing the zone here with 4 trees that shouldn’t grow here. Second year: two olive trees 🫒; second year: myer lemon tree (although it’s taken a bad hit; my plant killer saga got to it.. 🤦‍♀️) then today I got to plant my cold hardy orange 🍊 mandarin tree! - that’s a first year, but it’s two gallons so it’s pretty ready for this! Can’t wait. It’s going to take a lot more to get it to survive, but the start is great! 😊 Teddy was helping me figure out how big our hole was. 🤣 I love Ted, and Awsha and her daughter Siggy were out sleeping while I worked around them. Well, I told myself this spring and summer I was going to slow down and just take a break from getting anything new… so naturally I had to buy some plants. 🤦‍♀️ I got a new cute kumquat, I added a parent of the Meiwa. This particular kumquat is a rather old variety: it dates back to the 1700s. It’s called a ‘Marumi’ kumquat. I added this one; replaced a plant I love that passed away; my bad 😞 and then I got some mystery caladium bulbs; as well as some more mystery Hoyas. So excited 😆 but also starting to wonder where I’m going to put everything. I have a problem with not doing things on a small scale. UPDATES I’ve been on and off Greg a lot, since I started my plant journey. I love sharing my plants and helping people with their questions the best I can, but sometimes life just gets in the way. This room, my main plant room has benn under renovation and is still not finished, but we are getting close. Work, as usual, has been completely chaotic and I have been super involved in other projects whoch barely leave me any time for gregers (I hope I wrote that right). So as I am sharing how my plant space is coming along, I can also tell that most of my plants do not grow due to the fact that I keep cutting them down and propagating. I cannot show you how big my monstera albo was, but I can tell you it was higher than 170 cm and now that’s her with 3 leaves. Anyways I will try to update my oasis as well, and we will see how this goes, but I will try to keep up with Greg. Also I have this New Year’s resolution where I wanted to read 1 book every month. I’m really into witch stuff at the moment, but my favourite book of all times is 100 years of solitude, any recommendations? Wow. I am blown away with the kindness and generosity of @Idplantthat 😱😱 I just got #plantmail and the best kind. 🥰🥹 There are so many new plant bébés!! In fact it’s taken me a few days to make sure everybody’s situated, either propping or potting up. Not only did I get unique and special plants, Dragon fruit!? variegated African milk tree/euphorbia trigona?! 😱 Tricolor Cuban oregano!! Vicks plant, reed orchid, Persian shield, abyssian red banana, raspberry canes, multiple beautiful begonias, and even some mystery corms, how fun!! Rachel went above and beyond with sending me wish list plants 🥰♥️🥰 A freaking variegated anthurium!! 🤯philodendrons galore: brandi, majestic, ruizii, red Congo, green goddess, a strawberry shake?! 🥹alocasia odora variegated 🤩 scindapsus jade, I’m SURE I’m forgetting some. EDIT: plus a pink syngonium, ginger, turmeric, agave, pineapple, and a MoT! Heyyy! I absolutely know I’m going to forget to post in the morning, so I’m getting it in early for #FreshLeafFriday (are those still a thing? I’ve been so out of the loop) 🪴 Without further ado: new leaves (first one open; second one still furled) on my burgundy #Ficus. These are the first new leaves in a LONG time—it did not get enough light in that tiny apartment I just left! Now it has front row seats to the sunrise every morning 🌅 Then, we have my rehabilitated variegated #StringOfPearls, which a friend gave to me in a sad, shriveled little vine with one lonely root. Now look at it go! 😊 Bonus pics to use all 5 spaces (why not?): watered all my growing babies and #Propagation s this morning. I love these cute 1” clear plastic pots! They are perfect for propagating!
