About Alocasia 'Frydek'
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Frydek' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

My leaves are yellowing. Help.

Can i know if this species of alocasia always 3 leafs only? Seems like a new leaf is growing but a mature leaf started dying or wilting after the new leaf unfurled.
-
What are these? The Internet says corms, but they're not under the soil and coming directly from the original stem. They look interesting!

Can’t get my frydek past this point# I grew this baby frydek from a corm. I propagated it in perlite and it was fantastic, but after I transitioned it to soil, it stopped growing. Now it is drooping and changing color and i know it’s gonna lose its only leaf. This has happened with 4 other frydek propagations and I don’t know how to make it happy and grow large after I transfer it from perlite to soil. Any tips? :/ #AlocasiaAddicts #frydek #Alocasia #PropagationStation #help #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #helpneeded

Soooo… It was rheumatology day! And we should know by now that my local Trader Joe’s is just down the road from my rheumatologist’s office, therefore you know what that means, right? Yep! #PlantHaul!! Especially tickled to find FRYDEKS in stock for the first time since last year!! The two I got will never replace my beloved and dearly departed Freya, but I am thrilled to have a Frydek back in my life. Just something about these guys that makes my heart happy sigh. 🥰 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #AlocasiaAddicts #Gardenia #AlocasiaFrydek #DesertRosePlant #TraderJoes #PLANTMAFIA #OrchidLovers #TheThread #HisLobster #HappyHumpDay #NeedMoreRoomForPlants

Why do my Alocasia leaves droop?

Yellow leaves Hello, got it 3 weeks ago, everything seems fine. 4 days ago I got a growlight and now the leaves get yellow. Could this be because of the growlight or too much watering? Thank you for your help ☺️
