Tradescantia Zebrina
About Tradescantia Zebrina
This cultivar of Tradescantia is an exceptionally easy plant to care for and might surprise you with some of their delightful blossoms. They are extremely easy to propagate by stem and one plant can give rise to dozens of new ones, which makes them great for sharing. 🤝 As houseplants they often trail, but will also creep along the ground if grown outdoors. Their succulent leaves make them sensitive to frost, so be sure to bring them indoors if your winter temperatures dip below freezing. ❄️

How to fertilize Tradescantia Zebrina
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Tradescantia Zebrina after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

So a funny post today because I crack myself up sometimes and perhaps fellow plant lovers can relate. At least those who treat plants like children lol So I chose today to check and see if my two smaller plants, the zebrina and nerve plant, were ready to move up in pot size since they have nearly tripled in growth since I bought them as babies. I went to Walmart and got me some 6 inch pots and then went home and got my plant babies because I like to do my plant stuff at my grandparents since there’s more room and I live in an apartment on the second floor.. but with how I drive… I had to make sure my plants survived the ride.. so I buckled ‘em up 😂 Even had to leave them in the car whilst I ran inside a store to get some 6 inch trays. They’re such a rowdy bunch them two.. but they behaved themselves 🤣 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewPlantMom #TradescantiaZebrina #NervePlant

My tradescantia hasn’t been doing too good due to neglect on my part. I have been going through a bit of a depression burnout lately and have been struggling with keeping up with a few of my plants. I trimmed off all the dead stuff and replanted all the vines then gave the pot a good water. I know it could use a shallow pot but I don’t have one at the moment so plain old terracotta pot will have to do for now. #PlantAddict #Neglected #Oof #MyBad #TradescantiaZebrina

Just before/after of my tradescantia (tbh I don't think it's nanouk). I bought it in the end of August and cut it in October to make a pot for mom. So here some facts and #tips about tradescantia's cut: 1) Cut the hale stem closer to leaf. 2) It's better to have two or three nodes that you put in a soil (better four). Just take off two or three leaves from a cutted stem (it's better to cut a long one). You can also make a small stems, just cut a long one in pieces with one leaf between nodes. 3) You can put cutted stems in water to wait for roots, but it's better to put them in soil out of hand. Tradescantias are really unpretentious plants. 4) Put the pot with stems into the warm light place (you can use growing light as well). 5) First time (about a week or two) leaves on stems will be soft - don't be afraid and give them some time, believe me, everything is ok. 6) On the third week you can notice that leaves become harder (not all of them, but that's ok), it means that your stems start to root. On the four-five weeks you can notice new sprouts. 7) Don't forget to water your stems as the soil is almost dry! (About once a week, two times a week in summer). Good luck, you can make it! Happy Sunday! #tradescantia #tradescantiananouk #tradescantiazebrina #cuttingsclub #propagationstation

Wtf This happened over night. Idk what's up. It's dried out now but all the dead and dried parts of the plant were literally jet black like they were spray painted. It's only sections on top the rest is OK. I was out here last night and it's wasn't like this #happyplants #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantaddict #planttherapy #plantmafia #plantsmademedoit #plantshelfie #plantshelfie #purpleheart #tradescantiazebrina

I cut the wild #tradescantiazebrina in my front yard. They were in a random abandoned pot my mom had left out. My daughter's had stuck a couple of cuttings in there in spring, and they took off. Heck they look better than the tradescantia in my house! So today I cut them down and stuck them in a pot before the cold really gets to them good.
