How to fertilize Silver Sword Philodendron
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Silver Sword Philodendron after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

What’s gone wrong with my silver sword philodendron? I’ve had this plant for about eight months now. Originally, she was doing so, so well. I did very little, and she thrived. My photos below show how she looked when healthy, and how she’s recently declined.

Broken stem! I was repotting Sterling (a rehab plant I bought from Facebook marketplace) and using a cococoir pole for the first time. He hadn’t had anything to grab in his original pot so I was trying to gently wrap him when I heard a snap! His stem broke partially in half! Chat GPT said it can heal from this by callousing over so I taped it together to keep the break from getting worse and wrapped it with plant Velcro to keep it against the pole. Has anyone had luck with something like this?? #rehabplants #Philodendron #PhiloFlock #SilverSwordPhilodendron #stemcutting #TheThread #GregGang #PlantTherapy #HappyPlants #NewPlantMom #PlantGraveyard

Are those… what I think they are! Ok so I was on a call when I noticed THIS. I got off the call and took a look. So I said to myself as the planty person I am, those can’t be Areal roots, they usually don’t grow inside there. Then, I knew what they were. They were auxiliary roots! I think my plant is flowering! Just to make sure here’s a photo. Am I right?

HARRY!!!! Life to death to life to death to REBIRTH!!! Oh dear Harry, what a learning lesson you are HAHAHA ! Harry was a full plant when I got him! Little did I know his Number One pest was root rot! So I trimmed him and repotted. He nearly died in my dry spare room at the time! (While he was on quarantine from being purchased 😮💨). I placed him in the grow tank and thought we were golden! Little did I know my soil blend was so so so awful (I’m sorry friends it was a hydrophobic miracle gro blend. I do not purchase MG anymore) AND root rot was a fighting factor. I didn’t see any white root growth on the outside of my pots and that should’ve been a clear sign something WAS wrong! When I thought I made a genius decision of propping in water, he died! Thankfully I placed a spare cutting in some moss on a seedling heat mat and have Harry 2.0 🤩🥳 #SilverSwordPhilodendron

Very beautiful, big leaves. Grows very quickly, especially when it’s little. Easy to care for and not labour intensive.
Only downside, not really a downside, just a note really. Leaves brown very easily. Bruised leaves will brown quite quickly, and they are delicate so they tend to bruise easily.
