🧐 Troubleshooting

When troubleshooting a sad-looking houseplant, start by checking for signs of distress in its leaves, such as yellowing, browning, or drooping, which can indicate overwatering or nutrient deficiencies.

Inspect the soil moisture; too dry or too wet soil can cause problems.

Ensure the plant is getting the right amount of light, as too much or too little can stress it.

Finally, consider environmental factors like temperature and humidity, and adjust care routines accordingly to revive your plant.

😖 Common Issues

Overwatering is a likely cause of issues with Silken Pincushion Cactus. These plants are very sensitive to wet soil so if you notice your plant becoming squishy or translucent, overwatering is the likely culprit.

Cut your plant just past where the rot ends and allow it to callus over for a few days before replanting it in fresh, dry soil. Download Greg to make sure your plant never gets overwatered again!

I found Grogu in a random box on a back shelf in the garden center at Home Depot. He was unlabeled so the cashier gave him to me for free. I was interested in what type of cacti he was because of his red spines. After a few weeks he seemed pretty dry and looked as though he was shrinking/leaning so, because we live in a hot and dry climate, I watered him generously. He plumped up but still looked like he was leaning and I noticed his spines were falling off and some water droplets leaking from where there was a spine. I backed off on the watering and just gave him enough to keep him looking green and hydrated. He is a tough little cactus. I am hoping he blooms later!
