It's never too late to buy a plant! I bought this plant at a store for $40 USD.

I'm welcoming Twilight! There isn't a label on the pot for species, so my best guess was Blushing Philodendron. Am I right? This is my first Philodendron, so I'll need some care tips. Tomorrow or the day after, I'll repot and add some support (it looks like it wants to climb something).

I mean, maybe it's P.erubescens. They're popular for landscaping here
@Catplantaddict This should help to get started with care for your blushing philodendron (Philodendron erubescens), provide bright, indirect light, use a well-draining potting mix, water when the top inch of soil is dry, maintain moderate to high humidity, fertilize with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season, and prune as needed to maintain shape; avoid direct sunlight and overwatering, which can lead to leaf damage and root rot respectively. Light:
Bright, indirect light is best to maintain the vibrant leaf colors; avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the leaves.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix with good drainage to prevent soggy soil.
Watering:
Water when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between waterings.
Humidity:
Blushing philodendrons prefer high humidity, so consider using a humidifier or pebble tray to add moisture to the air.
Temperature:
Ideal temperature range is between 65ยฐF and 85ยฐF (18ยฐC to 29ยฐC).
Fertilizer:
Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the spring and summer growing season.
Pruning:
Prune as needed to maintain the desired shape and remove any damaged or dead leaves.
Support system:
As the plant grows, consider providing a trellis or stake to help it climb. This website might have more info https://www.guide-to-houseplants.com/blushing-philodendron.html#:~:text=Fertilizer:%20Feed%20once%20a%20month,is%20attached%20to%20the%20stem). Happy Growing!
Nice name buddy! The colour of the stem is captivating!
My Blushing philo is a lot darker w/different shape so idk... unless mine is wrong which the app or me has been before! Beautiful big leaves on yours! ๐Ÿ’•
@SteffyHazPlants mine has two darker leaves that look like the Blushing Philodendron, as well as magenta stems. I'm pretty sure yours is correctly identified, too.
@Catplantaddict two things can certainly be true. I think mine is broken, anyway ๐Ÿค” that sprouting leaf has been sprouting forever
@SteffyHazPlants oop lol. When I bought mine, it had some yellow patches on the leaves.
