#thewateringhole it's been almost 3 weeks since she arrived and while some of the initial giddiness has faded, I'm still so head over heels for my #syngoniummilkconfetti . It's very hard to be patient while all the new leaves settle in and fill out, but what a difference already π₯° I've been keeping that and the #philodendron rotating every hour ish on the counter in the morning sun, so far no burns. The lil philo is putting out new leaves as well, and two just finished unfurling. No more variegations yet, but the first one may have been a fluke anyway lol. The shipping left Mentira with some leaves that look like butterfly wings, the shoot is on overdrive and I'll stop before I look up to see I've spent 4 hours talking about a houseplant π₯΄ #plantsmakepeoplehappy #planttherapy #syngonium #syngoniumsquad #newgrowth #happyplants

@CactusAdjacent Beautiful pictures Iβm so jealous of the sunshine. Iβm using grow lights till March here . I love your pictures nice job . Iβve never seen quite like the plant with butterfly π¦ leaves amazing . I just love how dilligent you are about that rotating you plant .

And agree with Deb, oh to have the SUN βοΈ I just got 4 new grow lights and realized that Iβm probably going to need at least 4 more π€¦πΌββοΈ We call our βfall/winter seasonβ The Long Dark Wet, and everyone needs to have human sun lamps too. @ILoveMyPlants @DreamMachine @MariansOasis Sometimes I forget that my 10 hours of sunshine, south biased as it may be, is a major luxury in the winter. Much like my cacti I'm over here like "excuse you it is 5pm?? Where is the sun going, hey, I'm due at least another 2 hours! Come back! No, I'll die, come baaaack!!"
On the other hand, I went out Tuesday night when the moon was just bright enough to be it's own light to hunt for more cacti. I only found a single hedgehog cactus about a mile out, but the walk itself was totally worth it and a sensory experience I don't get often. Chilly, no breeze, everything washed in shades of blue-gray while the total silence pressed down on my ears like a sound of its own. There's a supermoon tonight and I'll probably try again, even if it means I need to extend my cactus patch OR come back totally empty handed.
I don't have a problem, I can stop any time I want :v

@SweetAzurebluet !! We got a little rain here but not cold enough for snow just yet. I'm forecasting we stay balmy through December, get chilly in January, 1 hard freeze mid February and then it's just summer again. Great pictures, snow and plants alike! π₯°

@CactusAdjacent @DreamMachine I didnβt realize it snowed, last night until I π out my window! We get snow βοΈ every year, but not as much as other States. Our snow comes from Colorado

@MariansOasis the older I get the more people tell me things like "you can't go walking by yourself at night!" and the more fun it is to do it anyway π my husband is a city boy and gets disproportionately worried when I head out to Frolic so. I've just stopped telling π

I see that temperate rain and I raise you NYC for the foreseeable future - dry but ferocious. Glad to report my plants are out for delivery today, so 3 day transit and missing the big drop tomorrow. Otherwise, happy to report Cuprea *seems* to be holding its mature leaves while popping new ones. And just watching these corms keep rising - they took a while to get going but they are on a fast track now.

#TheWateringHole , #brunchataudreys good afternoon everyone! Itβs cold π₯Ά and cloudy with some rain π§οΈ in my corner of the world. Work has been BUSY this week so Iβm thankful that succulents like to be neglected. I think Iβm up to 15 watering reminders now. Havenβt watered anything since Sunday. Did take a quick look π to see what was happening with my oasis this AM. I have one bud starting to open on 1 of my Thanksgiving cacti. It looks like this growth on my echeveria Mensa might be a bloom stalk forming. Bet my watering hole will be busy this weekend!

@DreamMachine I didnβt give my Thanksgiving cacti any special treatment. I think mine are blooming a little later this year.
@DreamMachine @Idplantthat hahaha yeah thatβs the Azlanii with the pink. The Kapit will be a purple-y black. More goth garden! π» Both had been on my list for a while and Iβve never seen them local so it seemed like itβs time / the gummy took the wheel. Also keeping an eye out for when Venoms come down in price - those are really neat. Let me tell you, that heat pack was completely done by the time the box got to me but they put in a lot of insulation so I think theyβll be ok. If it got here tomorrow like it was planned, not sure theyβd be in the same shape. π Rachel I hope yours show up ok!!!!

@CactusAdjacent While youβre prancing around at night barefoot I suspect this is what we got when we arrived at cabin yesterday. Itβs pretty to look at but anytime youβre ready we can switch π
@DreamMachine First one is a Venom Alocasia and the last one is a Variegated Lauterbachiana Alocasia! Aka a Purple Sword. All of those are Alocasias. Ugh, π€three days off watering plantsβ¦ so many hours. I hope everything makes it! I get so stressed in winter, Iβm always freaked out a little that theyβll get overwatered, or under and there goes all the time and effort π€£π€£ Iβm sure Iβm not alone in the feeling.
