When in doubt, buy a plant 🪴 ❤️
I swear I begged for just one. My dad wouldn't let me at first lol
I'm welcoming Lakshmi into my Oasis! She's my first lucky bamboo ever! What are some caretaking tips?
She's in a pot currently filled with water and some foam, but she has roots. When I get home, I'll repot her and update her plant card.

Edit: I split her up into 3 plants because there were actually three plants in one pot. There's Lakshmi (the largest), Felix (the medium-sized and in a 3-inch porous pot), and Destiny (the smallest and in a 2-inch teacup XD)!

1ft to light, direct
5” pot with drainage
Last watered 1 year ago
@Catplantaddict when you said ‘repot’ I hope you don’t mean into soil. Lucky bamboo grow best in water.
@MoeyFaerie I'm not sure if my drinking water is distilled, plus it costs money to use (I'm swapping most of my plants water to either my well water or rainwater because my family is getting low on money) so what is better in this case, well water or pure rainwater?
@YammieOf3 Today, I split her up into 3 because I realized she was actually three plants in one pot. Also, all of them had roots, so I repotted into some pea gravel. I can waterlog the pots if needed because Lakshmi (the largest stalk) is technically in 2 pots (the one in contact with the pea gravel is clear plastic with drainage holes, the other one without contact with the soil is glazed clay without drainage. It was my orchid's original pot that I bought it in) I can remove the plastic layer, and Destiny (the smallest stalk) is (and I kid you not) in a pretend play teacup and has no drainage. I have a terracotta pot w/o drainage I can use when Felix (the medium-sized stalk) gets bigger.
@teacher12 Thanks for letting me know! I thought of giving my young sister the smallest stalk (Destiny) to my sister to teach her about plant care and stuff, but I didn't want to end up killing the plant! So far, I gave her a hens and chicks (which was my first starter plant, too) so she could start learning about plant care.

@Catplantaddict distilled water is water that has had all minerals and other particles removed from it. If you’re on well water it could have hard minerals in it that is harsh. I’d definitely go with rainwater. I only use the distilled for my bamboo. Everything else I use water from my tap after sitting out for 24 hours and I save egg water from boiling eggs.
@MoeyFaerie my dad says it's softened with some bleach, but now that I think about it, it might kill my plants anyway. Sadly, I realized this after I watered some of my plants! I hope they'll be fine🤞
I'll use rainwater. I'm glad it rains often! I'll place tons of containers out there eventually to catch as much rain as possible.
