Monstera monkey leaf
About Monstera monkey leaf
The nearly 50 species of plants in the Monstera genus all share some incredible traits, like being world class climbers! 🧗 These plants use aerial roots to grab onto trees as they grow up towards the sun. They've been known to grow more than 60ft/18m tall and many have holes (fenestrations) in the leaves that are believed to help sunlight pass through to lower leaves. The genus name Monstera comes from the Latin word for monstrous/abnormal and is thought to refer to these abnormal leaves!

How to fertilize Monstera monkey leaf
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Monstera monkey leaf after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

My Thai constellation has its first new leaf since being in my care! It’s been a little bumpy, having woken up one morning to it being knocked over and a leaf broken off. However, I’ve been watering with purived houseplant food and it’s really started taking off! So excited to see what this next one looks like!

Monstera too tall.. lol my neighbor gave this monstera a bit ago, she’sdoing great! But as she grows I’m just noticing how bare and a bit… unappealing to the eye, as well as unsteady, she really is. And I do not have an oddly narrow and tall pot to place her in. 😂 I’m basically just wondering what you would do? - this is my first monstera, I’m just curious, could I chop the whole thing and put it in water? It’s got this aerial root on the bottom that was damaged but has new growth coming out of it, as well as that newer one on the top. Could those roots alone support it if Iwere to chop the whole bottom off? Or is there another way to do this I’mnot thinking? #PropagationStation #HappyPlants #ADHDPLANTLOVERS #GregGang #Monstera

No question, just a new plant mom and my Monstera has a new leaf and it's first with fenestriations! I don't know anyone else that would as excited by that as I am. MT previous plant experience has been the onions and potatoes that sprout in my pantry. #Monstera

Wow!!! Look at the bargain I got today. It is a huge Philodendron Monstera that included the decorative basket container. $29.99 at CVS-BIG and healthy. I called my hubby to see if he could buy it for me for Mothers Day-He said YES! So it’s not like I just bought one more plant, right?

Monstera Trims yellowing! So I pruned down some leaves about a week ago, though just recently I noticed the base of those cuts are yellowing, even the node I took from one of the plants. I did fertilize it lighter than recommended but sooner than scheduled. Could this be the cause? Or what could it be? The rest of the plant is still thriving. #Monstera #MonsteraMob
