How to fertilize Zebra Calathea
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Zebra Calathea after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

What’s going wrong here. #ZebraCalathea it’s was very green when I got it. Now it’s fading what’s going wrong. It gets bright light during day not direct sunlight. Also I water when it’s dry completely.

Hi! so i’ve had this zebra calathea for about 2 months, and im noticing some sort of mold that is growing on the surface. The pot has really good ventilation so im not sure as to why this is developing?

It doesn’t seem to be growing?? I’ve had it for a couple of months now and it’s still thriving but not getting taller (bigger)? What am I doing wrong?? #ZebraCalathea

My calathia’s leaves started curling & the plant completely dropped looks like it’s dying. It was slightly dry, so I watered it a week ago. Did not help, it got worse. Soil is still moist #ZebraCalathea

What’s going on there. I removed one stem with roots from the main pot and potted in separate pot. It’s not too dry but the leaves look dehydrated. What can I do to save it. #ZebraCalathea

Hello everyone! This is my first calathea so I’d appreciate any tips! He’s in a north facing window sill and I’m in washington state, the roof covers the sun most of the day so he won’t be getting many hours of direct sunlight #ZebraCalathea
-
If my Zebra Calathea only gets morning sun (3-4 hours direct sun east facing window) will the direct sunlight hurt it or should i pull the blue semisheer curtain to shield it? #ZebraCalathea

This is a temperamental plant, as all calatheas are. But it gives me the most problems. On a positive note I get new leaves maybe once every 2 weeks or so, however… I can not keep her happy. No amount of humidity, watering (or lack there of) sunlight (direct or indirect) keeps my leaves from yellowing, browning and or dying. The plant itself is beautiful and exotic looking but it is a challenge

While it’s beautiful, this plant is a PEST MAGNET, like most calatheas it finds a way to attract all types of bugs all the time. I’ve had to repot her three times due to caterpillars in her soil, and I’ve had to soap spray her a few times. Honestly she’s a pain, just stick with monsteras

i have had it in an area of 50%+ humidity with medium/bright indirect light. i have a setosa and treat them both the same and my setosa is thriving but this zebrina is stagnant and crisping. i started to cut back on watering so hopefully i can rehab my mistakes. things i’ve learned with this plant:
- only water with room temp, distilled water
- careful on the fertilizer, may be prone to burn
- water when almost dry (prone to root rot. calatheas need constant ‘wet’ soil, never soggy)
- KEEP HUMIDITY UP or leaves WILL curl (literally starting curling at 40% humidity once, a real drama queen)
