About Eyelash Begonia
There are over 2,000 species of Begonia, and horticulturalists have created even more varities by cultivating all sorts of shapes and colors! They're native to tropical regions around the world, but are now found in homes in cold climates as well. Their taxonomy is far more complex than other plants, with species belonging to different cultivar groups. They contain oxalic acid, so be sure to keep them out of reach in homes with pets or children! ⚠️
Taxonomy

Finding light for Eyelash Begonia in your home

Eyelash Begonia may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.

How to fertilize Eyelash Begonia

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Eyelash Begonia after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I think my eyelash begonia has root rot :( it was looking SO nice until I got back on Monday from my weekend trip. I repotted it as I was planning too and got rid of all the dirt and nothing has gotten better. So sad :( any suggestions?

Is there a way on this app to indicate a plant has died? Unfortunately, something happened to my eyelash begonia and it died very rapidly. But I don’t want to lose all of the photos of it I have on here. Is there a way of indicating you no longer have a plant but not deleting from profile?

I noticed my plants are flimsy and drooping instead of standing tall and firm. The soil was covered with moss when I got it but is getting moldy. I figured I over watered so I've given it time to dry out but it's still really flimsy. What should I do? #Begonia #help #rootrot?

It is getting brown along the edges of the leaf, is that natural or does it mean a problem? #Begonia

Begonia Linda Dawn Help, this is my first begonia. I received a large Begonia Linda Dawn a few weeks ago & a number of leaves have dropped off. I assumed it was just from a bit of damage that it sustained in shipping. Now I’ve noticed that some of the leaves are beginning to brown and dry up on the edges. She’s under a grow light & watered only when the top inch or so of soil feels dry. What can I do to help her & prevent the browning/drying of leaves? #Begonia #Begoniahelp

What other plant parents say

This is my first begonia abs though I was hesitant, I’m thrilled at her progress. In a few months it’s grown from a handful of leaves to this bushy little creature. I love the “lashes” on the leaf perimeter abs the variegation on the stems too. It’s good at telling me when to water, her leaves sigh a little abs she soon perks up with a watering.
