Finding light for Drosera peltata in your home
Drosera peltata love being close to bright, sunny windows 😎.
Place it less than 1ft from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Drosera peltata does not tolerate low-light 🚫.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Drosera peltata in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Drosera peltata
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Drosera peltata after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

CP CLUB THURSDAY for August 22nd, 2024 #cpclubthursday Inching towards 🌟⭐️170 members⭐️🌟 “SPOONED-LEAF” SUNDEWS Welcome to #cpclubthursday Thursday AUGUST the 22nd, 2024 🌟NEARLY 170 MEMBERS !🌟 FEATURE: Spooned-leaf Sundews Let’s have Dr Wiki provide an introduction to these great sundews however the term “spoon leaf sundews” is used for different species of sundews as you can see below: “Drosera intermedia, commonly known as the oblong-leaved sundew, spoonleaf sundew, or spatulate leaved sundew, is an insectivorous plant species belonging to the sundew genus. It is a temperate or tropical species native to Europe, southeastern Canada, the eastern half of the United States, Cuba, Hispaniola, and northern South America” Then there is an entirely different species and one I am more familiar with described as a “spoon-leaf sundew”: “Drosera spatulata, the spoon-leaved sundew, is a variable, rosette-forming sundew with spoon-shaped leaves. The specific epithet is Latin for "spatula shaped," a reference to the form of the leaves. This sundew has a large range and occurs naturally throughout Southeast Asia, southern China and Japan, Micronesia, Papua New Guinea, eastern Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. Variants are often known by the localities in which they are found. The plant does not form hibernacula in winter, and is easily grown using the same methods as Drosera capensis (common Cape Sundews)”. Like all Drosera, they all have sticky leaves which explain their name: “The botanical name from the Greek δρόσος drosos "dew, dewdrops" refer to the glistening drops of mucilage at the tip of the glandular trichomes that resemble drops of morning dew. The English common name sundew also describes this, derived from Latin ros solis meaning "dew of the sun". The Principia Botanica, published in 1787, states “Sun-dew (Drosera) derives its name from small drops of a liquor-like dew, hanging on its fringed leaves, and continuing in the hottest part of the day, exposed to the sun.” But that can be the challenge when relying on a shape of leaf to describe a plant as I know what I refer to as “forked sundews” are often called by other names. Any thoughts? Or does anyone have a “spoon-leaf” sundew photo or information to share below? I have added many posts about the conditions and care of various CPs in previous #cpclubthursday so I recommend people follow the hashtag, may of them also have my own group #seymour so may be easier to find there. Victims of a Cape Sundew Welcome to #cpclubthursday Thursday AUGUST the 29th, 2024 🌟NEARLY 175 MEMBERS !🌟 So just wanted to share some photos of what I saw on some of my sundews today. What I like is how the dewy leaves can capture prey on both sides of the leaf so talk about doubling up your chances of catching a flying insect as has occurred on one leaf I spotted. Then I saw what I thought was an insect sitting on top of a sundew leaf and being cheeky ! But it’s actually stuck there as it couldn’t take off when I went to scare it off ! So I had no problems with taking my time to take a few photos of this captured insect. The leaf has already responded by bending over its prey to aid its digestion. Feast away. @MusicalRedmint Susann, I though you may particular enjoy these photos ! 😃👍🪰⚰️🪦RIP I have added many posts about the conditions and care of various CPs in previous #cpclubthursday so I recommend people follow the hashtag, may of them also have my own group #seymour so may be easier to find there. Finally got into the world of #CarnivorousPlants ! Meet my new Drosera Adelae! A friend just gifted it to me. I’m excited for the experience! Found a place with adequate sunlight in my room and will, if needed, supplement with grow light. She’s still VERY small. Awesome! #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantMail #CarnivorousClub #Gustavo

Good afternoon! My Cape Sundew is kept in damp Pete Moss and indoors in a windowsill with bright afternoon light. I feed it carnivorous plant food 1-2 times per month. Recently the tips and some full branches are turning brown. Any advice? #CapeSundew
