Begonia Bolero
About Begonia Bolero
There are over 2,000 species of Begonia, and horticulturalists have created even more varities by cultivating all sorts of shapes and colors! They're native to tropical regions around the world, but are now found in homes in cold climates as well. Their taxonomy is far more complex than other plants, with species belonging to different cultivar groups. They contain oxalic acid, so be sure to keep them out of reach in homes with pets or children! ⚠️

Finding light for Begonia Bolero in your home
a window
Begonia Bolero may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Begonia Bolero in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Begonia Bolero
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Begonia Bolero after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

#FreshLeafFriday just under the wire! Just wanted to share my first successful begonia propagation! 🥳 I’ve tried so many times with begonias, but they always just rot 🥲 but not this time! I did it! 🎉😆 seriously, though, it’s so tiny and cute. I might gift it to a friend, I might prop another one and make a second #PolkaDotBegonia for my office. Also, my #ChineseHibiscus is still blooming, and is doing it even faster than it did in the summertime! It took a while to build up the energy, I guess. 🌺🌺🌺 And a bonus picture of my chihuahua rescue, Mia, in her cute lil Halloween sweater (she gets so cold! So naturally, she has more cute sweaters than I do) 🐾 #PetsAndPlants #PetsOfGreg #DogsOfGreg #Begonia #BegoniaBunch #begoniamaculata #babevila #HappyPlants #FloweringPlants #Blooming #NewGrowth #PropagationStation #Propagation #PropDontShop

Oh man, I went to my special plant shop today. They have no online store, so it’s always a fun surprise when I get there. The owner is amazing and I can chat with her forever. She knows I need to pot my plants before I bring them home. 😂😂 And she’s got such a cute little pup that had been going through chemo and was always sleeping when I visited before, but today she was up and playing and being rambunctious. Such a good visit. In addition to the feel good vibes, I found a Red Secret for cheap! I was kind of wondering if I wanted it before, but when I saw it for half the price of the other shops, it was obvious I had to get it. It’s math. 🤓 In addition, I’ve been on a fruitless hunt for a Black Magic / Arabian Sunset begonia. Ahem Nadia @DreamMachine ! WELL - I didn’t even know I needed this little emo baby before I got there, but I knew it as soon as I walked in! I found a Vampire Slayer begonia! A huge one!! Obviously her name is Buffy. Now let’s hope I can keep this gigantic leaf. Adding a closeup of Buffy’s hairy legs. 😂 The goth garden grows. 👻 #Begonia #AlocasiaAddicts

Looks sad and droopy. Wasn’t this way two days ago. Should I get a glass covering for it? Prop it up? Does it have just seasonal depression? Thanks in advance for advice #HappyPlants #Begonia #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Update on testing out different silica/silicon products 🤓 To @Idplantthat and @Jho since we’d been talking earlier but anyone else is welcome to join in. I got both TPS Silica and (AgroMagen) Si Tech Silicon and decided to test them out on my cane begonias since I have two of similar size and age. TPS Silica for my Black Magic Begonia and Si-Tech Silicon for my Polka Dot Begonia. Mind you, this is only TWO days after my first application, but I glanced at my black magic today and did a double take. The difference is STARTLING. She looks healthier, darker, and so lush compared to only Wednesday. The polka also looks good, just not as drastic. My Rex begonia is grown over and slouching. Should I prop it up on a stick or leave it the way it is? #Begonia
