How to fertilize Alocasia 'Metallica'
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia 'Metallica' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I live in Missouri, what can I do with these over the winter? I don’t have room for these inside (currently in pots outside) and not enough sunlight. Can I dig out the bulbs? Or just cut them back and bring the pots into the garage? #GiantTaro

New leaf curly droop #ZebraElephantEar I don’t recall the other leafs unfurling in such a sad droopy floppy manner…. Any thoughts?

Heya, why is my zebra ear getting yellow spots? It’s got black dots and eaten tissue 🤢 She has been fine throughout the last 8 months! Thanks 🤩 #ZebraElephantEar

Elephant ear growth? Hello fellow plant lovers! I had a question about my elephant ear Alocasia and was hoping the community could help me! I’ve had this plant for a few years now and they’re doing great with a lot of growth since I was gifted this beautiful plant. However I have noticed that typically when a new leaf sprouts, an old one dies. As I understand it, this isn’t abnormal for this plant, but I’m wondering if this is something that can change if I adjust its care? It gets pretty good natural indirect/ bright light (no longer under a grow light) and I keep its environment pretty humid. Has anyone else experienced this with this plant? Should I be worried? Any input is appreciated ☺️

My beautiful addition… Name it Mufasa 🥰🥰🥰

Suddenly wilting ? My cute little Joe was thriving. Now it’s not. I don’t get much light in my apartment. But it’s in front of the window that gets more sun than others and a grow light too. (Ignore the lavender bush. My coworker almost killed it and asked for my help. Same with the Pink splash 😭 #ElephantEar

How many leaves does your Jacklyn have? Mine it giving me a new baby. What's the best way to get at least 1 more?

I was checking out my new Black Velvet alocasia this morning to see if she was ready for a repot and what did I find…? These are the kinds of stowaways I’m here for!

Just wanted to share my very pretty Frydek. I wish it would have a bit less variegation but it is still doing great 🥰 #AlocasiaAddicts #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #variegatedplants

Okay I’ve posted this before in comments, but I need to make my own post about this new baby of mine, This last week I finally did it… I got my first #alocasia 😱🥳 I’ve been doing tons of research and I just happened to stop at Home Depot right after they had a huge brand new shipment, and there was one beautiful Alocasia sinuata hiding amongst every thing else. It looked like a sad little crocodile (alligator? Which snout is shaped like which?) that needed a home so off with me it came! (Think of THAT what you will 😂) My one question is—I know you’re not supposed to “bury the crown” ie the part where the roots meet the green bits (I am very scientific 🤓), but this seems wobbly to me, especially since this one needs more of a shallow pot. How do you keep it from wobbling while it’s settling in? I made a quick tripod trellis out of 3 chopsticks and gently eased it in around it but idk. 🤷🏼♀️ #HappyPlants #HappyPlace #AlocasiaAddicts #brunchataudreys #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #NewPlantMom #PlantShelfie #PlantCorner #PlantLove #DreamMachine #adhdplantlovers
