Alocasia Platinum
About Alocasia Platinum
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia Platinum

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia Platinum after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Hi guys, I’m back again. (This is a bit of a long read, if you’re interested.) At this point, if you remember anything about me from what I’ve said on this app, it’s probably that I am a 17 year old with mental health issues. I kind of ghosted everyone on this app for a few days. I wasn’t doing it to be mean, just because I’ve really not been in a good headspace. But even though I was feeling terrible, I still had my plants. That’s the thing I always love most about my plants. They’re all the therapy I need. Anyway, now I’ve changed my profile picture and I feel like I’m getting a bit of a fresh start. (I hope you like my ultra close-up of my face hahaha.) Sooooo with that, I’d like to show you all some of my new growth on my plants. My philo summer glory, my alo frydek, and my baby alo platinum all are getting new leaves in!!! Im especially excited about the baby because this is her first time growing a new leaf, and she’s a baby from my favorite plant, Nike. Nike also gets an honorable mentions because use she’s putting out a new leaf, but it’s not really big enough to take a quality picture of yet. I also wanted to show you guys this HUGE golden pothos climbing the wall at my mall. I’ve never seen one that big in real life!!! Anyway, here they are! 😁 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #PlantTherapy #GrowLights #PlantCorner #PlantShelfie #PlantLove #VariegatedAlocasiaFrydek #alocasiaplatinum #Philodendron #philodendronsummerglory

My alocasia babies! All of my alocasias got some sulfur added to their soil tonight, as per a suggestion from @TheOddAsity and so they were all lined up on my banister, and I took this cute family photo. 😁 I freaking love alocasias. My favorite plant that I have is my Alocasia Platinum, Nike. She was my first alocasia and I just absolutely adore her. 😊🩷 #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PlantTherapy #PlantCorner #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #AlocasiaPolly #alocasiaplatinum #alocasiaredsecret #AlocasiaAmazonica #AlocasiaFrydek #VariegatedAlocasiaFrydek

FFFFFFFFFFFF— Stupid fungus gnats. Screw their pathetic week-long lives.😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬 [don't mind the fact that it looks slightly overwatered, i'm holding back on water now] Currently i'm trying to cover as much soil as possible, so to prevent any more fascist gnats. I read that they seem to be attracted to compost-based soils. Is this true? If so i might as well spend more on soilless ones [there's a good local company for it anyways] #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #PestControl #fungusgnats #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #alocasiaplatinum

Repot help. I am so upset. Hey yall, happy new year. I’d done some repotting and this keeps happening to me. It makes me feel so stupid and upset. Great thriving plants look like sh!T after a repot and start dying. The two main ones are the gorgeous neon pothos and my newest #Alocasia (and yall know how I feel about my beloveds). I know roots weren’t damaged. Went up only 2” or less in pot size. Use my chunky mix and #deathbycinnamon. Keep them out of the grow light for a week and watered immediately. Keep bottom watering since that’s what they’re used to. But it feels like almost every repot I do, the plant practically dies and loses a ton of leaves in the process. I’m gonna end up with trauma if I don’t figure this out! 🌱☀️❤️ Thanks for your ideas. #help #RepotSeason

Ok. It’s time. I want to build a #humiditycabinet I don’t know where I will put it, but that’s not the point. 😎 I want to expand my collection of #Philodendron and #Alocasia so I want to do the build kit with an Ikea cabinet. I’ve seen videos online but want to see who here has made one! #IKEAGreenhouseAddicts any help? #ikeacabinet #AlocasiaAddicts #PhiloFlock I do have a regular plant shelf with built-in lights, with a great humidifier, but I really want these guys to thrive….. 🌱☀️❤️

How to help dormant #Alocasia I have a lot of #Alocasia and I feel like I’m really experiencing this for the first time. Almost all of them (especially my more established plants) look like absolute sh!t and I think they’re going dormant. How should I adjust care for them? I’m cutting off dying leaves since those won’t recover. I’m noticing they don’t need water nearly as often. But what about lighting? Any other tips for how to help them through this. I feel like a nervous mom! 🌱☀️❤️ #AlocasiaAddicts #Dormancy #DormancyTips

Show me your #Alocasia setup So I have been largely MIA lately though I miss you all. But I opened Greg today and saw the brilliant beautiful @BabeVila and @PoisedAlbo showing off glorious Alocasia!!!! I’m the Queen of the #AlocasiaAddicts and would love to see everyone’s setups! Do you have a special spot? What do you use for their humidity? I want to get some more challenging varieties as we get closer to winter breaks and I always love seeing how everyone “plants” at home! 🌱☀️❤️
