About Alocasia Green Shield
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

How to fertilize Alocasia Green Shield

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia Green Shield after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

One leaf yellowing/browning Hi!! I just brought home this beautiful Alocasia “Regal Shields.”. It’s my first big indoor plant!! Apart from some minor insect damage on some of the other leaves, it looks real healthy & has new growth coming in, but the one leaf is looking real sad. It’s lifeline was bent so I figured that was why it was yellow. I propped the leaf up so hopefully the lifeline could repair & the end of the leaf could get nutrients. It’s been 4 days and it’s not looking better. Do I just need to give it more time, or is the whole leaf a lost cause? Would nutrient/fertilizer help? I haven’t watered yet since I don’t know when the store last watered, but I’ve been misting daily. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! #advice #help #Alocasia #AlocasiaAddicts #AlocasiaRegalShield #alocasiaregalsheilds #AlocasiaGreenShield #RegalShields #ElephantEar #elephantearalocasia #ElephantEars #elephantearplant

Yellowing spots on azlanii Hi everyone! I haven’t posted in a bit. All your help has been so appreciated. I learned so much that I was able to get by with all the knowledge I received. I have not quite figured out the cause of this though. I don’t know what to do, how to help, or how to prevent it on the new leaf. I got this plant maybe two weeks ago? Give or take. It had a small mark on it, but now it’s turned to yellowing spots on the leaves. I’ve never had this issue with other plants. The yellowing has always been on the outer edge but never in the middle. This is my absolute favorite plant. I love her so much. I need help getting her healthy and happy. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #NewGrowth #GrowLights #NewPlantMom #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #alocasiaazlanii @LushLeaves25 @Prentyce @SuperbRaspfern @TheConservator @theloveofplants @CopiousWeed @DeanSucc4

I have a leaf on my alocasia frydek that is turning a yellow/brown color. Does that mean it’s getting too much sun? This is my first variegated plant. She’s about 3 feet from my window and does get a little direct sun.

Why do my Alocasia leaves droop?

I just got this plant at the beginning of April from Lowe’s. It came in a self watering pot. I’ve taken care of it per the directions so far but noticed this leaf completely yellowed. I’m brand new to house plants, help!! 😂

Help please! #GiantTaro my plant was starting to yellow and I figured it needed to be repotted. I found that it was root bound so I loosened it a bit and repotted but that seems to have accelerated the yellowing.
