Alocasia Bisma
About Alocasia Bisma
Alocasias, commonly known as Elephant Ears, are some of the most common houseplants although their leaves can reach enormous sizes when grown outdoors! 🐘 They typically only support a few leaves at a time (more, when they get more sun!) so don't be concerned if you see an old leaf begin to retire after a new one emerges. They grow out of underground corms which are similar to bulbs, so next time you repot keep an eye out for baby Alocasias! They contain calcium oxalate crystals so be sure to keep them out of reach if you have children or pets! ⚠️

Finding light for Alocasia Bisma in your home
Alocasia Bisma may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Alocasia Bisma in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Alocasia Bisma
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Alocasia Bisma after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

I am just so HAPPY. I feel like a Grandmother with my Alocasia Bisma. Quick facts about her -got her as a 4” -Repotted not too long ago to 6” and she has been flowering like crazy ever since -she had a baby when I repotted -gave that baby it’s own pot (named her Biz baby) -the baby was just one leaf and now it has three! It’s so precious 😭😭😭😭😭 #AlocasiaAddicts #Alocasia #alocasiabisma #bisma #plantparent #plantgrandparent 🪴 #HappyPlants #proudplantmom #ProudPlantParent #plantstory

Do we think mollys aroid mix is fine for the Bisma? She seems to be adjusting well, but just want to make sure for long term care 🫶🏼

On the left, $8 @ local Lowe's. On the right, $30 from the app plant shop. The plant card is what the ordered one looked like when it arrived. It was my first plant ever not purchased locally. Lesson learned! #alocasiaaddicts #plantsmakepeoplehappy

I’m dying to do a “Caption This” with Crichton’s new leaf, but it’s fairly self explanatory. 🤦🏼♀️🤣 The second picture is his other new one beginning its journey to glory, and the third is from Freya, my Frydek. 🥰 Enjoy the opportunity for giggles, and happy Friday, everyone! #FreshLeafFriday #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #FridayFunsies #AlocasiaAddicts #StingrayAlocasia #AlocasiaFrydek #CaptionThisPicture #HisLobster

Droopy leaves, help? Hey y’all, happy Saturday! Just had a quick question about my #ZebraElephantEar I’ve had her for about two months now and so far she’s been doing great. Took her home, quarantined, watered and tested out different lighting: all the usual. Since then she’s popped out with two new leaves and they’re doing very well. The issue I’ve noticed in the last couple of days is three of the stems with smaller leaves have started to droop and some have yellow spots. This is completely unusual. I have the plant on a watering schedule, I’ve repotted once (terracotta w/ drainage), only fertilized once since purchasing, and nothing else has changed besides the new leaves. She sits below a south facing window that gets direct sunlight for most of the afternoon. Where she sits the direct sunlight is only for about three hours but the indirect sunlight is still prevalent. I have a humidifier and I’m not worried about overwatering. What should I do? This is one of my favorites and I don’t want to lose her. #HappyPlants #help #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #NewPlantMom #help
