Of all the hoyas that have bloomed for me recently.... this is one I'm actually proud of. as in "I'm counting this one as an achievement" proud. Since I've heard the serpens can sometimes be difficult to bloom, I couldn't believe my eyes, when I saw some of the myriad peduncles they seem to put out "just in case" regularly were actually developing more. This one is actually the first of several peduncles about to bloom, and I can't believe my fuzzy cutsey luck. Each singular blossom is about the size of a leaf, making the comparatively huge peduncles surrounded by the tiny "snake" heads absolutely magnificent. Like with her daughter, the Mathilde, I'm not a fan of its fragrance, but really, who cares: One of my hoya serpens is in bloom! I will try to capture the whole plant when more peduncles are open, because the size difference between peduncles and leaves is so remarkable, but for now I was scared to move the plant until the blooms are fully open. #hoya #hoyahangout #plantsmakepeoplehappy #happyplants #pedunclewatch

I stopped in Ralph’s/Kroger today to look at plants because I was in that plaza at my bank. I wasn’t really going to buy anything. I have so many new plants plus I wanted to look for flowering plants and all they had were Kalanchoe and baby roses which I already have. Then as I was leaving empty handed, I saw this plant and I had to get it. I didn’t even know what it was but I love the orange. Turns out, it’s an orange spider plant or a Mandarin. I am THRILLED that my little-hoya-that-could has its first bloom!!! She’s a 1 year old (from cuttings off of a much older plant) that has just defied expectations in growth. And the smell is….DRUMROLL PLEASE…feet! 1000 year old feet! Lolol Or possibly swampa$$? Volleyball socks that were left in a bag for four weeks? A decomposing body? 😆😆🤣🤣🤢🤢🥴😵😵‍💫It’s sooooo bad! Lol!! I’m torn because it’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen! What’s crazy is that if you put your nose to the blooms, it smells like chocolate! But my entire sunroom smells terrrible from it. So interesting! It finally came! Well, one part; the last part of my soil mix. Ted was so convinced that we were making coffee when I brought out one of our coffee trees; this is a propagation dwarf coffee plant for a friend. But Ted loves to help me make the coffee. He samples all the sweet stuff and sometimes things he gets a bean and spits it out. But Teddy loves to help. It was all quiet on the home front tonight cuz hubby is sick and dogs are in their beds! I bought a fairy or terrarium pack of 6 when I bought some other plants from Etsy. They got here a few days ago. They are so cute and so tiny!!. I finally potted them late this evening while it was quiet. Now I’m tired and I have work tomorrow. Everything looks pretty 👍🏻, let’s hope they all grow!! Hello everyone, I hope you and your plants are growing well. I spent several hours, this morning, gardening working with my plants pruning, watering, mowing. The heat index is up to 108 With an actual temperature of 96°. That’s enough to drive me back into the house for a while. For sometime, I’ve been keeping my, smaller, cactus on my walkway. This was to save them from dying in a sudden rain storm if I’m not home to bring them in. I’ve lost several cactus too much water. I’ve decided to reinstate one of my old greenhouse tents. Omg 🙈 my family got home at 3 a.m. this morning, and my niece was calling me at 9 a.m. to come get her so she could come steal my plants. 😂✨ She’s too cute! 🥰 Anyway, had to share my buddies I’ve been working on the last couple of days. It’s a little wild, but I was out working, and then all of a sudden they changed, and it was hailing.
